Amid death and destruction, hurricane-savaged New Orleans has a new dark force to fear. As the rescue efforts unfold, a grisly discovery is made at one of the massive refrigerator "graveyards". One of these metal hulks contains six human hands - all female, all right hands. The press has dubbed the unknown perpetrator "The Handyman". Captain Patti O'Shay is the straight-arrow, by-the-book cop assigned to the case.

    "Great book...Great narrator!"
    Overall

First book I've read by Erica Spindler, but definitely not my last! Fast paced with lots of twists and turns - the characters were well developed. Susan Ericksen is my favorite narrator and she made these characters come to life! Enjoy!!!

    "Excellent read"
    Overall

This is my first book by the author - but definitely not the last. The book kept my interest the entire time - the characters seemed real. Many twists and turns in the story...but believable! Give it a try - you won't be sorry!

    "Great book!"
    Overall

This was my first book by this author...but definitely not my last. The author makes the transition from present day to the 1800's seamlessly. Very well done. I also enjoyed the reader. This book will keep your interest and make you care about the characters!

When the skeleton of a young girl, not yet a teenager, is discovered in Acadia, Canada, Tempe Brennan is reminded of Evangelina, her best friend in her preteen years, who was mysteriously taken away when she was 12. Evangelina was from strange and faraway Acadia. She was named after Evangeline in the Longfellow poem, and loved poetry. Tempe found her exotic and glamorous, and then suddenly she was gone, and Tempe was told not to try to find her, that she was "dangerous".

After a history of drug abuse and prostitution, Munch Mancini now works as an automobile mechanic, work she loves and does so well that even her male co-workers acknowledge her skill, if somewhat grudgingly. She has a daughter, a little girl left in her care by a dying friend. And she is about to marry a police officer she loves deeply.

    "Hard to listen to"

The story line is okay - but the reader makes it difficult to listen to. Very distracting as she tries to sound like a man, sound like a child, etc.
