The repetition in Nora's thought sequences was annoying. Why say something 20 times when just a couple of times will accentuate the idea?

Even though Charlaine Harris says she hired an editor to help with continuity, it didn't work. If I hadn't bought audiobooks, I could have sent her my 12 books so she could look up what happened in the previous books. For example, Sookie says she only met Copley Carmichael once before. WRONG! Also, why include characters that have no purpose in the book just because they were in prior books? I felt like it was a final episode of a bad show where everyone who ever had a part had to take a final bow.

Probably not. Johanna Parker should have reviewed her voices and pronunciation of names from previous recordings. Also, could Sookie have sounded more whiney?

Quinn. What was he there for? His part could have been performed by any other animal. Harris included him just so she could wrap up any possibility of Quinn and Sookie. Talk about playing to her audience.

Charlaine Harris started with a great concept and character in her first book but by book 10 it was clear she was bored with the storyline. This book was nothing more than a contractual obligation for her - she promised 13 books and no matter what the quality, she was going to provide 13 books. I didn't care who Sookie ended up with although Sam is definitely the easy, vanilla way of ending the book. Oh wait, there's another book due out in October that will tell the future. As if I care anymore. And another thing. A DEVIL??!!! COME ON!!!

I solemnly swear upon my Audible account that I will never, ever, ever spend one more cent on a Charlaine Harris book. So help me God.

The story was good - not great. But I have bought 3 on a special purchase so I will continue.

How many times can one person sigh in one sentence??? What about the voices? Bob and Harry are the only voices that work.

Any Longmire story is a good story but this one had holes in the plot line.

Books 1 and 2 were great but this one did not appear as well thought out and executed. There were several places in the book where I kept going back trying to see if I missed something like how did Lina get into Cady's apartment. Some of the plot lines were implausible and overly complicated. And, like most people, I missed Wyoming.

Henry's Cheyenne medical treatment of Cady. The burning of sage in the hospital was hilarious.

Any Longmire book is worth the listening time.

This book was obviously the bridge to the last book. Many things were left unfinished. Characters did not always behave in the expected way. I enjoyed the book only because I've been Sookie starved and I really want my Sookie journey to be over. Harris has lost interest and so have I. And considering the other reviews I have read, she's left a trail of dead listeners in her path.

I will listen to the last book in the series but I will never listen or read a Charlaine Harris book again. Not only has she ended other series badly (Shakespeare, Harper Connelly) but why can't the entire Sookie Stackhouse story be told in the books? Again, there was a storyline that is contained in a short story in some other book. I don't care to read those books so I have to guess what happened. Doesn't she have enough imagination to write a unique story for the short story collection books? One last thing, after I read the previous book, Dead Reckoning, I thought about commenting on the book on the community blog on her website. Has anyone ever read the comments Charlaine Harris writes when someone criticizes her work? That's enough to make sure that after this series, NEVER AGAIN.

I love Johanna Parker as Sookie Stackhouse and can't think of anyone who would do a better job. However, this was my least favorite of her narrations. What happened? Several of the character voices were changed from the previous books, especially Bill and Eric. Some of the characters in this book sounded so similar I couldn't tell who was speaking. And again, Bill's voice was previously so cool and calm, so like the character's personality. I have no idea why she changed his manner and style of speaking. I didn't care for it at all.

The scene with Quinn was just a way to let us know that there is a short story out there somewhere that we needed to understand what is going on. I guess Harris has to sell her contributions to other books in some way.

Let me begin by saying that I am a huge fan of Sookie. And no one has ever embodied a character more than Johanna Parker. But I became a little disillusioned with the last book (#10). It didn't feel as though the story was quite complete or as much care and consideration given to the characters. This feeling was amplified in this book. In my opinion, Dead Reckoning is just a teaser for the remaining 2 books in the series. There were so many unanswered questions and incomplete storylines that I feel like I have to read the next 2 books just to finish this book's storyline. Does anyone else wonder how unsatisfied they will feel if for some reason, this series doesn't continue? It has happened before... SPOILER ALERT!!! As for the book itself, I was disappointed with the problems between Amanda and Sookie. I'm sure it means something to the future of the series but I felt this was out of character for both. And what's up with Alcide - that was totally weird. In the last book, Eric was becoming more open and honest with Sookie but now he's back to the way he was before they were married. Is this just to make the readers accept a breakup??? After all, Eric was the one who insisted Sookie know about Bill's affair and saw the consequences. Are we really supposed to believe that he would so stupid as to do the same thing? I also noticed quite a few time line continuity issues. There were a few in the last book but so many more in this one. Overall, it was good but definitely not the quality of the earlier books.
