In this stunning sequel to The Golden Compass, the intrepid Lyra finds herself in a shimmering, haunted otherworld, Cittagazze, where soul-eating Specters stalk the streets and wingbeats of distant angels sound against the sky. But she is not without allies: twelve-year-old Will Parry, fleeing for his life after taking another's, has also stumbled into this strange new realm.

Read/listen to this book before you give it to your children.

There are warnings about religion in the reviews for this book but, that aside, there are other factors to consider. The book is not too long to listen and make up your mind about your own children.

I enjoyed the book and believe sci-fi lovers will love this book.

As the story opens, Ayla, Jondalar, and their infant daughter, Jonayla, are living with the Zelandonii in the Ninth Cave - a shelter of stone. Yep, the reviews are the best part of this book. They are as repetitive but much more creative and interesting

It’s her special “talent” which makes Cadence so valuable to the FBI, and it never comes in handier than when she and her partner, George, get tagged to bring down the Threefer Killer. A serial killer who inexplicably likes to kill in threes, leave behind inexplicable newspaper clippings, and not one shred of decent forensic evidence, soon starts leaving messages that seem to be just for Cadence and her sisters. Could it be that this killer knows all about Cadence’s special “talent”?

I had no trouble keeping up with the characters. It had some bad things in it but it was a comedy. I laughed out loud. My husband went around singing the WHEELS ON THE BUS. I hope it is a series. Her books are funny and filled with murder and mayhem. Don't miss this one.

When Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon decide to spy on a presentation her uncle, the commanding Lord Asriel, is making to the elders of Jordan College they have no idea that they will become witnesses to an attempted murder, and even less that they are taking the first steps in a journey that will lead them into danger and adventure unlike anything Lyra's unfettered imagination has conjured up.

Read/listen to this before giving it to you children.

I read all the reviews before deciding to write this. I felt that parents should be aware of what is in these books but feared the relious ferver could be misleading. There are many angry reviews about God but that may not be the only problem. The books are not that long. Listen to them first and decide about your own child.

I have enjoyed them and intend to listen to them again. They are thought provoking on a physics level. I think sci-fi lovers will love these books.

Raised in an Italian orphanage, Lucy is determined to find out the mystery of her English parentage. Unaware of the acute resemblance to her dead mother, Lucy becomes a threat to more than one family, particularly for Daniel Warwyck, ex-champion prize-fighter and now head of the powerful Warwyck family.

I really was looking for something that did not challenge me at all. I did not want an emotional involvement. I did not want historical information. I wanted something pleasant to listen to while puttered around with scrapbooks this weekend. Something like Winter Solstice or even Barely a Bride.

That said, I found the book full of unecessary meaness. I have read romances that developed sexual tension by creating conflict between the characters but the characters were unforgivingly unpleasant. I skipped through the last three CD's looking for a place that seemed it had gone pass the rough spot but never found it.

It was well read. I was able to follow easily as the reader moved from character to character. A person who was looking for conflict, a slice of life as it may well have been(I have no idea) at that time, might really enjoy this book.
