The sorcerer Alder fears sleep. He dreams of the land of death, of his wife who died young and longs to return to him so much that she kissed him across the low stone wall that separates our world from the Dry Land, where the grass is withered, the stars never move, and lovers pass without knowing each other. The dead are pulling Alder to them at night. Through him they may free themselves and invade Earthsea.

"The Other Wind" is another great book from Ursula LeGuin. Unfortunately, I found the multiple narrators and the random use of music distracting. I also agree with another reviewer who said the recording quality was poor. I think I would have enjoyed the book more had I read it rather than listening to it.

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

The narrator was great, i could really appreciate how the main characters were done.

For me the story was a bit of a miss. I really got into how much I disliked some of the characters and liked some of the others. What I didn't like was the wrap up. No pretty bow, just done.

Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

I liked it for the history that was expounded upon. I knew the events but never knew half the detail the book offered. It was a good end to the series.
