I kept waiting for it to get better. I loved Skinny Dip and have read all kinds of great reviews and saw Carl Hiaasen interviewed on 60 minutes and thought oh great another fun book to listen to.... but not so... it started out ok but ..... I somehow finished it but.... I think if I had to do it over I would save my book credit for something else.
If I could give it a minus star I would!
Maybe teenagers would be a good audience for this book.
Edit! When I first started this book it seemed like it had such possibilities! The dialogue is childish and unrealistic in my opinion. The narrator is not the best but seems to do an ok job. I did not mind her tone of voice and realized that the childlike sound was not the narrators fault but the way it’s written.
Save your credits!
Excellent, one of my favorite "listens" totally engrossed in the story. I was sad when it ended.
But never did. It's a nice story but I found it less than I expected. One of the reviewers said it was "chore to listen to it" and the reviewer was right.
The author should get rid of his Thesaurus and hire an editor, cut cut cut. 31 hours? He seems like he wants to impress with words rather than tell a good story.
Besides he graduated in 1951 from college why does he think he can capture today's youth? I think it's an old man's opinion of what the kids may be like today.
So if you liked Gomer Pyle USMC television show from the 60's you'll like Charlotte.
I knew there would be traffic and in anticipation of driving the 405 on a Friday in Los Angeles, I loaded several books in my iPod. The Testament was not the book I was going to listen to, but I accidentally selected it and in a few minutes I was hooked.
Frank Muller is the best reader and John Grisham spins a great tale. I found the 1 hour drive in traffic flew by and I didn't want to turn it off when I got in the garage. The 13 hours 34 minutes is well worth it, totally entertaining and a great listen.
One of the most interesting books I've ever read. An easy read, it reads like a novel. Dr. Weiss makes a lot of interesting points. I've read this book and I've listened to it, it gets more interesting each time. His credentials are impressive and give him creadibility. It certainly changed my view of the possibility of previous lives.
The reader speaks so fast that the message is hard to concentrate on. I felt like telling him to take a deep breath and slow down!
Well marketed and full of fluff.
