This audiobook is a perfect confluence of author and narrator. It is a hilarious book with a mystery plot and many excellent lines from various characters. The author's previous books in this series were funny, but had weak mystery plots. This book has both excellent characters and plot. The narrator does an absolutely perfect French accent, adding immensely to the listening pleasure. I was a bit leery that the author had included famous people as characters in her book, but she nails them in the book. They are portrayed very accurately and well.

This is the sort of book that lingers in the listener's mind for a long time and with pleasure. I recommend this book for hours of delight.

I would deemphasize the heroine's annoying frequent harping on her not very important Big Secret. The harping increases as the novel continues and it seems silly, in contrast to the real problems faced by the hero. It is as if the author at intervals remembered that she gave the heroine a Big Secret and hurriedly throws it in. The ending is very contrived as a result. The book would have been improved if the author had ditched this weak plot device and continued with the interesting development of the romance, which has real strength. The novel is good enough that the weakness of the heroine's Big Secret stands out.

Not sure. Her narration of the heroine was not entirely pleasing; she did a better job with the other characters.

There were many moments where the author skillfully developed the relationship between the hero and heroine. She keeps the reader's interest in both characters throughout the novel. The family relationships in the novel add a great deal to the plot and there are some excellent scenes involving those relationships and their evolution.

This is a good way to pass time, but not a great book. I recommend this to anyone looking for light diversion and who has a tolerance for a beginning author with real talent finding her way. I look forward to more from this author as she matures as a writer.

This book is amusing as well as a good story. There are some very funny dialogues and the story is absorbing enough to be quite diverting, which is the reason someone would choose a book of this sort.

The hero is well written: he is complex enough to be interesting and described enough to be sympathetic. The author allows the reader to understand the hero's motivations and reactions, not always the case with romance heroes. The hero develops a stronger sense of his identity during the course of the novel in a believable way. The heroine's development was also interesting to follow and unfolded at a creditable pace, complementing the hero's evolution. Neither seemed too stupid to live, a common failing in romances.

No, this was my first listen to her. She performs the voice of the hero superbly.

There were some truly delightful scenes between the hero, heroine and the antagonist.

This is an excellent pick if you are looking for 11+ hours of enjoyable diversion. It is not terribly memorable, but is a very entertaining way to pass the hours.

Fabulous engrossing story.

The characters were brilliantly done, the humor was superb and the narrator suited the story perfectly. The plot was superior to the plots in the two earlier books; the villain was far less obvious and there were more twists to the plot. There is one minor error in the book but it is not annoying or major [a character is said to be Brazilian but has a Spanish name and speaks in Spanish].

The scenes with the Americans at Castle Rannoch often made me laugh out loud. The action scenes were excellent, too. The author writes details very convincingly, making it easy to create a mental picture of what she describes.

This is an extremely funny book that definitely takes the reader away from the world and into the author's world. The narrator is brilliant with the ability to give each character the absolutely perfect voice. If you want a cheap vacation, listen to this book!

Anne Perry takes us to Vienna in this novel and the plot revolves around the revolutions of 1848 in continental Europe. This is not a successful theme for Perry. She is far more effective and convincing when writing about Victorian Britain and its politics. This novel contains more speeches than other William Monk novels and less interesting plotting and characterization. I did not find the conclusion convincing and the plot dragged in many places.

This is the first Vicky Bliss mystery I have read / listened to. The series title put me off for a long time, reminding me of Nancy Drew, whom I loathed. I was wrong - this is a superb listen. It is funny, action-packed and full of suspense. The narrator has an extraordinary ability to do accents and voices. This audiobook is worth listening to just for that alone, but there is so much more to it. I highly recommend this for a diverting listen that will keep you riveted and entertained. I am looking forward to listening to the other Vicky Bliss novels and hope the author writes more!

Simon Vance brings the characters so vividly to life that you will begin to feel as if you know them as well as you do your friends and neighbors. The Last Chronicle is a vivid portrait of personality, written with great humor and compassion and a very compelling listening experience. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, except that one suffers withdrawal symptoms after finishing it! The narration and the writing are among the best I have ever encountered and I have been an avid reader for decades. My teenaged son also got very engrossed in the Audible version - the book has value for a wide variety of readers.

Davidson is a brilliant narrator. He is easy to listen to and renders the characters extremely well. I can still hear Rawdon Crawley's voice as if I am again listening to the book, when I observe things that pertain to his character's viewpoint on life, it was so well done.

Davidson appears to understand Thackeray's world view quite profoundly, as reflected in the excellent drama with which he reads each character.

The book is spellbinding and I am only sorry it was only 31 hours. I could have listened to much more.

I highly recommend this version of Vanity Fair.

Jane Austen writes with great sensitivity and compassion about how two sisters adapt in different ways to life's blows. The book is evocative, beautiful and gripping. The plot and the characterizations move along enticingly. The narrator is excellent and draws the listener into the setting and story brilliantly. I feel as if I am in 19th century Britain while listening and by the end of the novel feel as if Eleanor and Marianne are people I have known well. I highly recommend this version of Sense and Sensibility for hours of pleasure.

Kate Reading is a superb narrator, expressing the author's intent brilliantly. Kate Reading makes the characters come vividly alive, even if you have read the book many times before and already have your own images of the characters.
It is a pleasure to listen to this version of Pride and Prejudice. I have found it entirely engrossing and recommend this version of P & P highly.
