"engrossing and exciting"
This was a perfect escape book. It took a little while to get into, but it was worth it. Danger, confusion of who were the bad guys, evil insanity. Just what the doctor ordered.
"Brilliant thoughtful treatise on the family"
Solomon has done an incredible job in focusing and illustrating how families stay healthy for all their members. His writing is excellent and he was, surprising to me, the perce t reader for the book. I read the entire book in a week. Amazing and wonderful.
Each of the families he interviews and described.
Excellent. Not one false note.
This book should get a Pulitzer.
"Big disapointment"
I was really disappointed in this book and felt the hype was way overblown. The book begins with an interesting gimmick of going back and forth between the main characters and whatever terrible deed has occurred, it becomes almost silly, because we never really care about the main characters. They are just not that interesting - so the book is just not that interesting.
"A beautiful treatise on how to be an artist"
This memoir is about running and about being a writer, but it is more fully a document on how to manage all the details of life while still keeping ones goals in site.
"Shockingly terrible book"
I am really surprised that Baldacci wrote such a horrible unorganized confusing and silly book. I have read 4 other of his very good thrillers and they each hung together with good plots and character development. Whatever the ???Camel Club??? is, it surely was never explained other then that they were a bunch of semi-homeless guys who read alot in many different languages. I only finished it because I just like his other books so much. I hope this doesn???t forecast some weird change for Baldacci.
"Perfect."
I was exhausted when this book ended. It seemed to touch so perfectly on all of the strange and horrible mishaps of the late 20th century. The book really is a masterpiece. Mary Beth Hurt did a wonderful job. The whole experience was a rare work of art.
"Faulkner would have been proud"
This was an excellent reading of an incredible book. I had not read this book before and was wary of listening to it on tape, but I was wrong. Patton did an incredible job. And the story is so amazing. So beautiful and classically American.
"Perfect. Munro is a genius."
This is a beautiful book. Munro is an incredible observer of people. Kind, honest and with a subtle sense of humor. The reader was excellent and allowed the stories themselves to take first place.
"Horrible"
This is terrible. Nothing about the story makes sense and the character of Eve and her daughter are drawn as such stupid women, it's really embarrassing. Cherry Jones is a great actress, which was why I bought it, but even she can't save this.
"Incredible"
One of the best books I've read on mental illness. This woman is remarkable and has preformed a great service by articulating so well what happens internally, as well as how horribly our hospitals do in helping people.
