"A Meditation on Language and the Mind"
Challenging, thought-provoking
Once again China Mieville has put down a thought-provoking and totally unique story, one that takes on what it means to have a mind and to use language. Susan Duerden's narration was top of the line; as with the best in her profession, she brings something to the story rather than simply reading it.
"Good "read" - more than a sci fi techno-fest"
Well done on all levels. Perhaps a bit more far-fetched than I'd prefer but that's balanced by a nice study of personalities, particularly as involve marriage and family. Made me want to check out more by this author and performer.
"Another Engaging China Mieville Book"
It's a clever murder mystery wrapped up in a Mievillian complex tale involving a slice of the world that takes international politics to an extreme level.
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. China Mieville is the thinking man's author. And, as usual, John Lee's narration was superb: rather than just presenting the book his work added to it. If you like your bookscapes off beam and challenging, this is for you.
