Yes I would, and probably will at some point. I read this series 20 years ago, and it was just as good this time. Such a great auther that passed away too soon.
I am an avid reader, and I've never read anything that would compare to this book, it was defitely an original.
Probably Cathy as she is the one telling the story for all of them.
No, I wanted to make it last. I listen while doing house cleaning, so it makes it more enjoyable lol.
Oh yes! I will listen to this book many, many times. I loved it so much. Great story & characters.
For me it was when one of the main characters died. This is the first time I've been moved to tears by reading/listening.
His change of characters was very well done. Usually I find that distracting, but really enjoyed him.
Oh I tried! For 3 days I did nothing but listen to this. Usually when I listen to books I craft, or clean, or play a video game, but with this book I was completely absorbed into the story.
You must read this book! It is so well written, and so enjoyable!
The story, the characters, how it just pulled you into it so you felt a part of the story.
I love long stories, that feel like they take a life time to finish and once they are you miss them terribly, and that is how these 2 books made me feel. I felt myself cheering for so many of these people, wanting them to be safe and happy.
Honestly my favorite scene is actually in the second book, "The Twelve", and I don't want to give it away and ruin it for anyone that hasn't read them yet :c)
I pretty much did! One weekend I cleaned, cooked, and did everything while listening to this book. Then the next week I listened to it again, because I just loved it so much.
I didn't know what these books were about when I downloaded them, I went in blind just seeing them on the years best list. And then when I got to the 'vampire' part I was so disappointed and thought to myself 'oh no, not this of all things', but was so happy when it became so much more than that. My all time favorite book has always been The Stand, but now The Passage, and The Twelve have taken it's place. I will read these many, many times more, and CAN'T wait for the 3rd installment!
No, I had a hard time getting into this story, and caring about these characters, and I hated the ending.
No, I found it pretty predictable.
Disturbing, sad characters!
I liked each of the characters, and wanted to learn more even after the last page.
Personally I don't enjoy different narrators in one book, it's distracting and disrupts the flow for me, but that is just personal preference.
I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than 'Gone Girl'. "Dark Places" isn't the best book I have ever read, but it's far from the worst. After the last page, I actually missed the characters, and wanted to hear more of their story from the end point on.
I love the Scarpetta books, but this one was a bit disappointing and slow. I still gave it a pretty high rating as I'm so picky that even a not so great Patricia Cornwell novel is a lot better than so many other authors.
