What a wonderful twisting journey. I enjoyed this ride and kept coming back again and again. The narrator was amazing.
A better story.
It was nice to see Reacher again.
I have to agree with many of the negative reviews for this book. If I could do this all again, I would skip this book. The story stalled somewhere in the middle and never regained its momentum. After all the build up in the car if just fell flat. All the things I really loved about Reacher seemed to be left out of this book. And what is with all the mindless travelling. I struggled to finish this one. A definite miss!
Some of the all too critical reviews dissuaded me from purchasing this book. When I finally took a listen it was a shock. I admit that it sounds a lot like The Stand - Raggedy Man/Trashcan Man there were a few parallels to Dawn of the Dead, but if you are truly a Stephen King fan it is not so hard to spot the differences in this work and appreciate the ending.
BTW the book is read by one author. There is a pitch and volume issue three times that I noticed but nothing that will interfere with the "stuck to the edge of your seat" ride that the novel takes you on.
I felt paranoid, elated and scared right along with the characters. I can't recommend this book enough.
How many "hot searing kisses" can two characters share in one story. Good God! The author really needs to work on widening her vocabulary. I have never experienced so much unjustifiable blatant sexual tension. Just too much, it made the story almost unbearable. After spending over $20.00 I forced myself to finish. Save yourself.
The plot of the story is an excellent one, the ending was just wonderful, but somewhere in the middle with not enough time to jump between the two storylines the author attempts to sum up the story so that everything wraps up neatly. When I got to the end I felt a little hoodwinked. I don't even know where the romance in the story came from or went. If you are looking for a quick escape this is the book for you.
To date it is by far the best of all of the audio books I have listened to. It was extremely well written and best yet, well read. The fact that it is based on true events makes the story captivating to say the least. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a good story - the kind that makes you pull your car over just to get all the details.
If you have read Angels and Demons that premise is the same. Damsel in distress, smart guy, danger. The twists were great but the book was not all I expected it to be.
