"Will certainly be a classic"
I really loved this story. My kids have been telling me for years to read it, and I finally got this edition to listen to. I can't imagine any part of it I'd hope to miss, and am not sure what the parts were in this edition that weren't in the previously released version, but again, I can't imagine I'd want anything left out.
I'm usually not a fan of "cast" performances on audiobooks. I like a single storyteller. However, this was really an outstanding performance - they did a truly great job.
"Another good installment to a really clever series"
I continue to love this series. I listened to this one on audiobook, and want to stress that I think the narrator is perfect for these stories - he really brings the characters to life. I particularly like the many and varied "inside references" the author makes - there are probably some of them that pass me by, but I catch quite a few from books or culture that are woven into the story quite nicely. Can't wait for the next one.
"Wow"
This is one of my favorite books in the last couple of years. I LOVED the story itself, and I think the narrator enhanced the story quite a bit. Perfect narrator for a truly outstanding story.
"Good second in the series"
While not as good as the first book in the series, this is still a really good story told well.
"Excellent"
My son had been trying for several years to get me to read this, and I found space in my listening schedule for it. Boy am I glad I did - I think the performance added a ton to an already excellent story.
"Outstanding Story"
I LOVED this book. It's a great story, told well. Of course, you have to get past the main character who invented the modern world it seems, but for me, that almost became part of the character of the story. Really recommend this one.
"Really great story"
I loved this first in the series. Really loved it. While the series as a whole kept going and was good, none of them came back up to the level of this first introduction to Oliver Stone and his com padres.
"Couldn't do it"
Tried twice, but just couldn't do it. Maybe for the right ear it works, but there was nothing in the story as it started up that could hold me long enough to keep going.
"Another good installment in a great series"
Really good storytelling, good narration. Not as good as the first book, but still very good.
"Great history, great story"
Caveat: I love historical fiction, AND I love learning about the Plains tribes and nations. I loved this book. Others might find it long or tedious in places, but I didn't at all. And really, this was almost pure history telling, though done very well. Should be a must-read for American History.
"A fun and interesting twist on "history""
I really enjoyed having my perspective expanded and challenged a bit by this well-written book, and the primary narrator was excellent for the book.
