Lizzy Tucker’s once normal life as a pastry chef in Salem, Massachusetts, turns upside down as she battles both sinister forces and an inconvenient attraction to her unnaturally talented but off-limits partner, Diesel. When Harvard University English professor and dyed-in-the-wool romantic Gilbert Reedy is mysteriously murdered and thrown off his fourth-floor balcony, Lizzy and Diesel take up his 20-year quest for the Luxuria Stone, an ancient relic believed by some to be infused with the power of lust.

This series is like a less exciting and less sexy version of the Stephanie Plum series. I like the sexual tension between Lizzy and Diesel but after listening to two books in this series, I need more than just tension to make it interesting ;-)

Rumor has it that a collection of priceless ancient relics representing the Seven Deadly Sins have made their way to Boston’s North Shore. Partnered with pastry chef Lizzie Tucker, Diesel bullies and charms his way through historic Salem to track them down - and his mastermind cousin Gerewulf Grimorie. The black-haired, black-hearted Wulf is on the hunt for the relic representing gluttony. Now in a race against time, the pair soon finds out that more isn’t always better, as they battle Wulf and the first of the deadly sins.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would probably recommend the Stephanie Plum series instead. This series reminds of the Stephanie Plum series but is not as exciting (slower pace and no sex). That is a bit disappointing since I really love the Stephanie Plum series and I think that Lorelei King is a great narrator. With that said, it is still an okay story with its funny moments and I still listened to both books in this series while waiting for the next Stephanie Plum book to be released.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would make it naughtier. Here we have the sexy Diesel sleeping naked in Lizzy's bed every night but nothing ever happens between them and nothing probably ever will happen in the whole series because then one of them will lose their powers. Knowing this, it is hard to stay motivated to stick with the series after listening to the first two books. I also expect the rest of the books to be about finding the rest of the stones which doesn't feel that interesting anymore. Maybe some secondary plots or intrigues would make it more interesting and Lizzy should either get together with Diesel or get a boyfriend.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings all the characters to life and is great at portraying different personalities and genders.

Do you think Wicked Appetite needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I actually did read the follow up book, hoping that it would be more exciting but then I was disappointed, so I would have to say no.
