The second book to the series is NOT a disappointment. The story continues with Karou, and her friends.
Laini Taylor continues with her excellent writing style. She is able to create a story that not only allows us to listen to it's easy flow, but experience the many emotions of Karou's and her friends. The fear, loss, desire, joy, to mention only a few of the emotions.
Again, I recommend this series to all fantasy listener.
This Book was a very good listen. Like the book before it starts slow and I questioned if I had made a mistake, but I stuck with it and the development of the story was great. Kristen introduces us to the undertones of what a man, woman, and child goes through when a divorce hits a family and the difficulties of starting new. New State, new town, new home, and new relationships, and the baggage that all this brings.
The characters are well developed and even though the story starts "slow" it builds to a great conclusion. I like that the storyline follows from the book before, so that the characters from "The Will" are in this one, creating a community of friends.
I found I wasn't satisfied with Hollis McCarthy's read all the time in this book. Her characters development was not as smooth as I would have liked, making the main character sound "off"(can't put a finger on it), but I found I had to forgive this edgy feeling and continue.
Because I "DO NOT " give Spoilers. I will only say this is a book that is worth the credit or money spent. I RECOMMEND this book to all the people that enjoys a good love story about life after divorce.
This book was great, Brenda Novak is able to write the many dimensions in relationships. It was well worth the listen. Tara Sands does well with the character voice changes, although there was a few threads that were confusing, all in all she did well. The story was a great addition to the Whiskey Creek series. This book made me laugh, and cry. I do recommend this listen and author. It is worth the credit and has a average length.
Slow beginning, but the narrator was able to pull off the heroines personality. This book made me laugh and cry. Very well written and read.
This is a new series for me, but I was disappointed by it. Terri Acuna Thorne read the book with no change of the voice or cadence, so that all the men and one women's voice was always the same. This book seemed extremely amateur to me. I believe This will be my own book by this author.
Love the Sea Haven series. This second "Families" story is as entertaining as the first "families" story. Due to the inability to remember where or not Angela Brazil narrated the story well, I am unable to pass judgment, but will review in the next book of the series.
This book was a fun listen, Rob Shapiro was able to bring the story to life. The building of relationship between Kara and Lyon very intense, but in all I highly recommend starting this series. I enjoy series that tell the story from all members aspect. So this adventure is going to be fun.
This whole series is well worth the read, and I liked the way the story of Fay was added. Alley keeping her secrets really hurts, not sharing with friends and family, fighting her demons on her own, truly sucks, it's great though that she has such a great shadow to help. loved the way the author became a part of the stories. Great listen and read, Kristen Ashely Rocks...
This is my first Kristan Higgins book and I found it just right. KH writes with great emotion, character development, and sets the stage for the listener to be "With" the story and characters. I laughed out loud and cry silent tears, listening to this story.
If you need something well developed and light to listen to, this is your book. Amy Rubinate's reading did not distract from the story, she was able to enhance it with her character reading. Although her soft spoken reading sometimes TRIED to distract, the story line was able to keep you inside, feeling and experiencing the conflicts, embarrassments, anger, and desires.
This is a fun love story, with the hinting of sex. but if you are looking for a story that takes you along with the sexual passions a person can find in other books you will be disappointed.
I recommend this book, for the light hearted, clean joys, with many passions life throws at each of us. It is an Excellent listen and I will be purchasing many more of Kristan Higgins books.
I have read Jennifer Fallon's book for many years now and was glad to see Audible start getting them in Audio. The Demon Child "Medalon" is well written and created to intertwine ones own imagination while the story is being read. With that said Imogen Church did a good job with the emotions and characters of the story. I will not give any spoilers. The only reason I am writing this review is to let others know that they will not go wrong down loading this book and the ones that follow. The Demon Child trilogy is a great read as well as a great Listen..
I chose this book out of NEED. Books by my favorite authors are just not showing up fast enough to keep me entertained, so while out looking for something, I read reviews by others and took the chance. Am I ever glad I did. Although this book does not have a story that carries from one book to the next, it does contain many stories in one. The story of a young boy who has lost his cornerstone in life, a young man dealing with experiences he had while fighting for our freedom, and the addiction he developed when he came home. It also becomes entertaining because of the love that develops with a historian, that has been hired to help with a historical film. Although there are some "sex" scenes, it isn't porno.
I really enjoyed this book it made me laugh, cry and fear for the characters. The narrators were great creating the atmosphere that was required for each character and circumstance. I highly recommend this book for a great listen.
