Three thousand years after a chunk of iron the size of Khufu’s pyramid collides with Europa, Jupiter’s 6th moon, an asteroid borne of the collision crashes into Earth’s Arctic ice shelf carrying extraterrestrial microbial life. The first man to come into contact with the microbes hears voices—and then dies....

    "Interesting but farfetched"
    Overall

The book is definitely interesting and fast-paced, and offers an action-packed view of what strange lifeforms might exist on and under Europa's covering of ice. However, the characters' numerous escapes from near-certain death left a lot to be desired in the way of believability. My biggest problem with the book was the narrator's tonal inflections at the end of many sentences. It seemed as if he were just relieved to be done reading the sentence, rather than applying the end-of-sentence inflections that would naturally be used by a character in real life. Numerous times, the inflections were "off" just enough to cause me to spend a lot of time thinking about what the proper inflections should have been, thereby distracting me from the storyline and causing me to miss the content of the next several sentences. In summary, a book probably worth reading if you can suspend disbelief in the harrowing escapes of the protagonists, and accept the fact that the narrator is not of Scott Brick's caliber.
