This seemed to be someone reading a PowerPoint of all the cliches they've ever heard. There was no meat to the discussion. Very superficial.
It was emotionless and bland.
I stopped listening because of the accumulation of historical errors. The hospital scene, in particular, is one from today's modern hospitals not late 1950s China or anywhere in the world. The story was not engaging enough to overcome the sloppiness of the writing.
I had a visceral reaction to this work. Alan Cummings brings the listener into the action. And that action is horrible and human and sad. The dismay of Lady Macbeth at the consequences of her actions and the evilness of Fergus stood out to me. Highly recommended.
This is an incredibly boring book. Both the text and the narrator are dry as dirt. I tried listening to it and was only able to last 15 minutes. It would be good as a sleep aid.
