During the reign of Richard I, Wilfred of Ivanhoe earns his father's disapproval by falling in love with Rowena, his father's ward. His father had planned to wed her himself, and reestablish the Saxon line.

Tobin says: "A great classic romance/adventure"
"Exciting Plot, But Movie Is Better"
    Overall

If you like historical fiction, you'll like this book. It has a very good plot, and the narrator does a great job with the different characters. However, I must admit I enjoyed the ending of the movie (starring Robert Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor) better.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

This is a good listen. The voices change based on whose perspective the story is being told from, which is helpful for the listener. The story is interesting and moves along at a good pace. I feel like it kind of goes on a little too long, but the main plot and intrigue is good.

Following a trail of clues across the galaxy, Luke Skywalker continues his quest to find the reasons behind Jacen Solo's dark downfall and to win redemption for the Jedi Order. Sojourning among the mysterious Aing-Tii monks has left Luke and his son Ben with no real answers, only the suspicion that the revelations they seek lie in the forbidden reaches of the distant Maw Cluster. There, hidden from the galaxy in a labyrinth of black holes, dwell the Mind Walkers.

Book 3 follows well from books 1 and 2, and I'm enjoying most of the different plot lines. I will say that Luke and Ben Skywalker's adventure in the Maw was a little difficult to follow via the audio version, but it basically makes sense.

I enjoyed this one (the second book) more than the first book. The character of Caesar is more interesting and the politics of the Senate are well described. Parts of the plot seem too simplistic though.

After a violent civil war and the devastation wrought by the now-fallen Darth Caedus, the Galactic Alliance is in crisis and in need. From all corners, politicians, power brokers, and military leaders converge on Coruscant for a crucial summit to restore order, negotiate differences, and determine the future of their unified worlds. But even more critical, and far more uncertain, is the future of the Jedi.

It has been a long time since I read Start Wars books, but I was looking for a relatively simple and short story with a lot of action, and this did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the the voices (pretty close to the voices in the movies) and the background music and sound effects were pretty cool. I enjoyed Han's irony, Luke's calmness, and Lando's smoothness.

Perhaps one of the best things about this book is that it makes you want to read the next book.

It has been 10 years since Juliette de Marny's father asked her to swear revenge upon Deroulede for the death of her brother in a duel. At last, she finds herself in Deroulede's house, with an easy opportunity to betray him to the citizens of France for conspiring against the people. But Juliette realizes, too late, that she is in love with Deroulede.

Had some slow moments, but overall very good. A satisfying ending. Katnis' mood swings were getting a little annoying, and I think those mood swings are exaggerated by listening to it because the book is written in first person.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

I got interested in this because of the movie, and I still found the story suspenseful even though I saw the movie. This a great book to listen to because the plot moves along quickly and the story as told through the eyes of the heorine really draws you to the characters. I thought the narrator did an excellent job as the voice of Katniss

For centuries, the legend of Robin Hood and his band of thieves has captivated the imagination. Now the familiar tale takes on new life, fresh meaning, and an unexpected setting. Hunted like an animal by Norman invaders, Bran ap Brychan, heir to the throne of Elfael, has abandoned his father's kingdom and fled to the greenwood. There, in the primeval forest of the Welsh borders, danger surrounds him, for this woodland is a living, breathing entity with mysterious powers and secrets.

    Story

I really found the beginning very boring. As the story moves along, it becomes more interesting but remains a fairly simple plot and seems to end abruptly. Plus, I didn't think the writing was that interesting. The author has the characters talk in Shakespearean English, which comes across as stilted in the audio version. The story's major plus is its different (and maybe more realistic) take on the traditional Robin Hood stories.

The work tells the story of Jane's early life, her experience at Lowood School and as a governess. Her refusal to accept Rochester's love on any but her own strictly moral terms is a passionate cry for independence.

    Story

Sorry to all the Jane Eyre fans out there, but I just thought this book was just OK. The ending was kind of nice, but I never really felt empathy for the character of Jane Eyre, and I got tired of her sentimentality. The book is very character driven, and I generally enjoy more plot-driven books.

The reading was done well and the narrator does a good job with the language. I do wonder whether reading the text of the book rather than listening to it helps the reader enjoy the language and the nuances more.

The first half primarily just has the characters traveling around, but then the action really picks up in the second half with a lot of surprises. I really like getting Jamie Lannister's point of view on the action and the history that he has been a part of.
