    Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

    What disappointed you about Unbroken?

    The narration is awful. The cadence is repetitive. I am not musically inclined, but I felt dread at this narrators sentences --- the up up up down up! was just so annoying, I couldn't even finish the first part. It was not necessary to read the story this way. Some parts (even some long parts) of a biography will be pretty even - and should be told as such - it was just so painful. Was he reading to a child, trying to keep his voice interesting?? that's all I could think. I have no reason to doubt this is a good story. But I'll read it to myself, rather than listen to this.

    I really tried (since it cost a credit) but this was very bad.
