I really enjoy the series as contained in "The Great Courses" series. Of course some of the presentations are better than others. The Dead Sea Scrolls is the best of the many I have purchased.
I have always had an interest in the Dead Sea Scrolls. I admit that I sort of expected a tinge of Jewish Religion flavor in this course but there was none. A very scholally & honest presentation. Really well done.
This gifted Professor is one I will follow. He is on the side of pure Accidemics. A pleasure to listen to & he has really helped me understand the value of this 1947 discovery. I am not Jewish but this course has greatly helped me to understand ancient thought & practice. The Professor would be a person I'd love to have a coffee with! An honest person! ND John
The Greatest Find of the 20th Century Explained.
I bow my head towards Professor Rendsburg. He has handled a very difficult subject very objectfully. Thank You, ND John
Patrick Taylor's Books are meant for some light reading when I need "aMental Pick Me Up" I am "Patatoe Famine Irish" as my Mother's family imagrated to the USA through Canada on a Coffin Ship. These fun stories track my grandmother's old tales told to me in my youth. My children also holler "shu Fairy" to warn the wee ones when throwing things outside (to avoid suprising the Fairies & incuring their wrath.
I very much enjoy the keen understanding of human nature by The Doctor.
John Keating knows how to use voice inflections to add reality to the story & it's many colorful characters making the listening very realistic. A fun series.
Yes, this is a Book, among others in the series, that drive me to listen most of the night.
Anyone with Irish heritige will enjoy Patrick Taylor, as will the not so fortunate. ND John
I do not give 5 stars to many books, this one deserves 6. Very well read, GRIPPING! This is a new look at Korea & how we really came close to Atomic Ruin world wide.
I had thought I had known about the Korean War but this one beats all I have read, ever. Very well done & I could not stop listening. I believe this Book to be true! The reader deserves an award!
As a Marine Vet I associated myself with the two Rangers plus as a Radio Hobbyist, the radioman. I only heard very few tech errors, which is easy to happen with radio transmissions in the era of the 50's.
The parts that gripped me were how Pres. Truman knew he was being fed bad inteligence by the Military before this mission & how the young Americans of the time were recruited into what could only have been perceived as a suiside mission by even the lowest of the ranks in the military. Brave men all.
I sure would like to have a beer & an hour to speak with the author and, to pat the reader on the back. Well done. NDJohn
The trueth in this book is a common thread that runs through all the War's in History!
I don't rank 5 stars for books, except this one. As an ex Marine it rang so very true, and sad.
The Captain who never received his just due!
Yes, I could not turn this Book off. I listened from start to finish, listening to Bing West's last chapter 3 times.
Any combat soldier or Marine will like this book, especially the wrap up. John
David Rosenfelt is a well educated man with a blue collar heart for sports dogs. His books astound me in his knowedge of legal matters, which I find very interesting. His stong suit is a really good story salted just right with humor, This is a very good listen with Grover Gardner at his best. I don't have trouble sleeping until I start one of David's books, I can't turn off my iPod. The best thing I can say is all David's Books are fun & captivating. If you enjoy a "who done it" that is also very enjoyable & entertaining you will not go wrong with this latest episode of David's best characters. I seldom rate a 5, this one was to me.a 5.

"Leader of the Pack" is another fun trip with a somewhat lazy lawyer, Andy Carpenter, that has been so much fun in many of David's Books in the past, such as "Dog Tags". While the characters are mostly the same David's Books are not a series by which you need to read in a special order. You can try any of David's Books & not be lost. Theey are all a lot of fun with great plots. The humor David uses is very much like my own. Perhaps that is why I never miss a new offering. He is just plain good & fun.
Grover ranks among my favorite narators. He can change voice to effectivily match the situation. Grover adds much to my enjoyment of David's Books. It takes a "Full House to beat this pair"!
This Book made me laugh much more than usual. One has to experience it to grasp my meaning. David, a person I do not know personally, impresses me as "the perfect person to have a beer & a chat with. He is an all American.
You will not waste a credit on "Leader of the Pack". Give David a listen! Careful, Andy Carpenter & company are addicting! John
Real Story of Naval Surface Action!
The Narrator, Alan Jones, makes an excellent read of an already riviting story. Alan is one of the Best I have ever heard in my 100 Gb book collection. I am well read about WW ll. But, I have always thought most of the real victories came from Carrie/plane actions. I now appreciate just how much Suface Actions our little
Mr. Alan Bomar Jones is now my favorite voice. Great Job Alan!
