"Hate to give bad ones"
Hate to give bad reviews, but this book just doesn't do it. The topic and reviews brought me to it. I listened to the very slow first half, and kept going based on the reviews that the second half grabbed you. It never happened, and with about 4 hrs to go, I must throw in the towel
"Couldn't be Koontz"
I have been a long time fan of Dean Koontz and I find it hard to believe that this is his writing. I have already given up on one author, (James Patterson)because I believe he is not the one behind the pen. These two authors seem to have become book machines, cranking out one after another after another, and I suspect they are putting their names on others writings. You seem to never know when your going to get the real deal. Very disappointing. Sad to say, I will be staying clear of yet another author.
"Could not engage"
I listen to many, many books. I don't know what I would do without them. I decided to try this author, based on the reviews, and after listening to over half of the book, I had to throw in the towel. As hard as I tried, I just could not engage.
"Great book"
I don't write many reviews but The Host as well as all of her books deserve a note. Great story teller. All her books have you engaged instantly.
"One of the Greats"
I passed this one up a couple of times and then I finally took the plunge and downloaded the book. I'm about 4 hrs from the end, and I am already upset that its almost over. What a great book. I will download the sequel right away. A highly recommended book. I hope they put some of Folletts older books on audible. I keep watching for them. (Eye of the Needle maybe?) Certainly one of my favorite authors and you can't loose with this one.
"ken"
Sorry to do this but I just could not engage in this book. I've been listening to audio books for over 3 yrs, 1.5 to 2 hrs per day during my drive and have many books under my belt. Some books are slow getting started so I give them a good honest try before I give up, but I have to give up on this one. My suggestion is go in another direction.
"Without doubt, My favorite book of all time"
I've listened to many books, many of them great books, but this was by far the best. Lonesome Dove was my first Western. I've listened to so many books that I was running out of material. I decided to take a chance and try the Western genre.I've never listened to or read a western. I was very apprehensive and when I saw 36 hrs, I was almost certain in my mind that this was going to be a waste of a credit. I was wrong on all counts. This was the best book I've ever listened to. I have 3 hr left and already feeling bad that this book is going to end. Do yourself a favor and put this book on your list. I don't write many reviews on the books that I listen to but I felt compelled to report on this one.
"I feel like a child"
I am normally a big fan of Patterson. I saw book on the NY times best seller list and thought I had a good one. I'm half way through and I think I'm moving on. In fairness to Patterson,, it may be the reader. I feel like a child being read to by a romper room teacher. He has read other Patterson books but for some reason, he gets to me on this book. I'll give it one more day.
"Great Entertainment"
I am amazed by the number of bad reviews on this book. I have 2 hr to go on this one and it is one of the best listens to date for me. If you liked Paranoia, you can't help but like this one. I was immediatly engaged and stayed that way through the entire book.
Highly recommended!!!
"Without doubt one of his best"
Couldn't wait to get in my car each day. I was wishing my ride was longer than 40 minutes each way. Dean Koontz has done it again. His style captures you and it won't let you go. Great listen. Koontz needs more of his work on audio.
