"Love on the Run"
The experience was so enjoyable because the narrator made the characters come to life. Zuri Day is a very vivid and wonderful writer. I hope that Audible will soon have all of her titles available because she is amazing!
My favorite characters were Michael and Shayna. Michael because as soon as he realized that love bit him, he did what was necessary to gain the trust of his woman. Shayna because she had so much dedication to her mother although at times she didn't deserve it. The past story of her mother was very heart wrenching. Her dedication to her best friend turned boyfriend turned ex-boyfriend/stalker was believable and it showed just how much love, warmth, and compassion she possessed.
I have enjoyed Shari's performances in whatever book I read. She makes sure to inflect emotions in her readings and seems to work hard to not be monotone. She is a great narrator!
Parts of this book made me laugh especially the scenes between Shayna and her besties. Other parts made me feel sort of sad. Those scenes was when Shayna spoke of her deep need for a deeper connection with her mother; her misunderstanding of their complicated relationship; as well as her self-doubt and self-worth. This book brought home the fact that little girls need a deep bond with both of their parents (if it's possible)
This was another great read by a wonderful author-Zuri Day. I really wish that Audible will add her other titles to the library in the near future.
