    The monotonic voice full of mispronounciations rather spoils this.
    Also Scientific American doesn't seem to work well without the illustrations.

The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger.

    Characters come alive in this beautifully read masterpiece. Jerry Parker has joined our family, after the kids listened to part of it with me on a long drive.

    Highly recommended, probably better than in print.
