The remote resort town of Fjällbacka has seen more than its share of tragedies, but a little girl found in a fisherman's net may be the worst yet - especially when the postmortem reveals that this was a methodical murder, not an accidental drowning. Local detective Patrik Hedstrom has just become a father, and it’s his grim task to discover who could have killed a child both he and his partner Erica knew well. He realizes that the solution lies with finding a motive for this terrible crime.

It has been over 30 years since I read this book. I am so glad I decided to revise it on audible. It is a great story and Rob Inglis is a wonderful job of narrating. It is a classic for a reason.

On May 18, 1860, William H. Seward, Salmon P. Chase, Edward Bates, and Abraham Lincoln waited in their hometowns for the results from the Republican National Convention in Chicago. When Lincoln emerged as the victor, his rivals were dismayed and angry. Throughout the turbulent 1850s, each had energetically sought the presidency as the conflict over slavery was leading inexorably to secession and civil war.

    Story

As far as detective stories go, this one is uninspired. I could not wrap my mind around the main charter. I did like him and never cared if he survived the story. That is never a good feeling when reading a book. His character was shallow and stereo typed. The story concept was good, but it would have been better in half the time.
Scott Brick did of fine job of narrating, but there is only so much you can do with a weak story line.

    Story

Some stories make you want to turn the pages because you can't wait to hear more and get into the story. Unfortunately this is not one of those stories. I feel as if I wasted my credits on this book. The story line is predictable and amateurish. The writer used images of blood and violence to cover the weak story line. I will not be using anymore credits on this author.
