I really enjoyed this book. I hadn't planned on listening to the whole series, but I'm on book 5 now, so I guess I'm really enjoying these. The books are not complicated but you learn to like the personalities and the "how's he going to get out of this?" aspect that keeps you coming back for more. Try the first book and see where it takes you...

It took a little to get into it but once it was rolling, it was rolling. The audio quality is notably poor at the beginning of each chapter but once the story got moving you don't really notice it. This is not a story for the faint of heart, this is erotica for the naughty.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I think this is only the second book I quit listening to before it's over in 10 years. The author is a bleed heart activist, who seems to prefer homo cro-magnon to homo sapien. His goal wasn't to teach us about evolution but instead to convert us into chimp lovers and depressed humans. The tone was overall sadness about the way homo sapiens treated Neanderthals, large mammals, and more recently chimpanzees. He spends a lot of time discussing our homo sapien short comings and likens zoos to prisons instead of teaching about evolution and past. I didn't finish the book, and never will. I've listened to at least 5 other books on evolution that were all science, good books. I'd even recommend the Modern Scholar lecture series. But I don't recommend this book for people interested in evolution. There's nothing new in the book, and the tone is bent.

Top 10 book on tape I've listened to and I've been listening since 1984 (back in the days of cassettes). This is a great story, can't believe it took me this long to find it. I will say, it's also one of the longest stories out there too, but that is normal for its period. If you can handle the length, you'll love it. Warning: At one point, everyone's names change, so make sure you can follow who is who, with all their new 'titles'.

I found this book to be a roller coaster. One minute you were happy for the guy and the "girl" as they played out a fantasy. The next minute you're dealing with real life suffering, life in a wheel chair and an unhappy marriage. If you like to swing between romance and sadness, then you might like this book. Personally, I found the book to be joy followed by kill-joy, followed by joy, followed by kill-joy. The overall tone of the story was sad, which is not my emotion of choice.

Not a single person voting one star actually read this book. They are just cry babies because they can't defend their liberal mind set with reason and critical arguments, so they throw mud. Weak minded people with no real belief system. This is a good book with a hard look at facts and problems that should be addressed, not covered up.
