I read this when I was young and was bored with it. The performance helped me get through it again but I was still bored. I know a lot of people love these stories - so I tried to like it, really I did.
The performance of all the characters was really quite remarkable. My only complaint would be the annoying little stops and starts in the recording.
I tried. Didn't like that either.
I like this author and will probably read other books but I was disappointed with this one because it was just fluff.
Not a traditional regency because of the sex scenes. Otherwise a fair story. Narrator was fine. I'd rather read Georgette Heyer type novels with lots of romance and history but no overt sex scenes.
I'm so glad I went with Rosenblat's narrations from the beginning when I decided to listen to Elizabeth Peters wonderful series. She is the definitive voice for Amelia Peabody as far as I am concerned. She does an amazing range of character voices and her Emerson is beyond incredible.
I have read this book several times, but listening to it was somehow different. I enjoy listening to Sam despite what others have said. I love this book and would have to say it is on my top ten list of books that have affected the way I think about the world. I highly recommend it.
If you like quilting and girlfriends and stories of courage through adversity, then this is your book. I enjoyed it, but don't think I'll get the sequels.
I know there are sequels, but I won't be buying them. Just not that great.
A very thorough history. Not exactly enjoyable but very informative. I can recommend it if that's what you are looking for.
Reminded me of Catcher in the Rye. Made me uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend it - especially to impressionable teens.
Although not scientifically correct in some details, this book is a fascinating read. It emphasizes the psychology of disaster and makes you examine your beliefs and motivations. A real page-turner. Can't wait to enjoy it again.
A quick read with pithy points. Nothing really new but an enjoyable look at being organized. Changed a few of my less desirable habits I believe.
