I truly enjoyed this story. This is the first Julie Garwood book I listen too. The story was wonderful, and the people in the story were fantastic. The only complaint I have is the Narrators Male voices. They were just too cold and they sounded like if they were all robots. The female voices were great. This book is worth a credit. A must have book.
I have to say, I truly enjoyed this book. I laughed through the whole book. My husband kept asking me what I was laughing about. I enjoyed this book a lot more then the second one. The story was interesting also, of course I new the ending already, but just listening to then joke around was worth the book. I hope the rest of the books are as good, because I just downloaded the rest of the series. Worth a credit: "definitely"
I couldn't recommend this to anyone. It was honestly difficult to finish. I think the storyline had great potential, but unfortunately, the main characters never gained appeal to me. At first I thought it was just the narrator's voice for Raven that was grating on my nerves, but after a while, I realized it was just the character herself. If there was a stupid choice to be made, Raven predictably made it every time. Trying to understand her reasoning (her compassion for others, her belief in free will, etc.) didn't help at all. She came across as ridiculous damsel, who was always in distress. And the male lead, as attractive as he was written, lost some of his appeal to me, because of his willingness to cater to and coddle such a idiot! So disappointed. Don't waste your credit here.
The book would have been better with a different narrator, such a pity she was selected to do the entire series. Had I realized that I would never have purchased the entire series but I did and I am compelled to stick it out and get through it! Mostly I like the stories but dread listening to it. Also I was not expecting it to be a series of the late 18 hundreds, Sad that the series was ruined by a bad narrator. Normally I enjoy Sylvia Day books. I just wished I have not purchased the whole series at one time.
This is the first time I listened/read a Jacquelyn Frank book. For anyone that has not read Jacquelyn Frank,I would like to suggest that prior to reading this series World of Nightwalkers to first read "Nightwalkers". The first series Jacquelyn Frank wrote, that way you get to know and understand some history about the different types of characters.
For the first 10 chapters I was so confused I almost gave up. But since I read a lot of the reviews and most were very good, I continued with the book, I also had purchased all three at one time. I have over 300 books from audible and enjoy multiple series, so I usually purchase all the books in the series.
I gave this book a 4 star because finally by the end of the book I understood the story and enjoyed it. Xe Sands is a very good narrator with her different voices. Thank goodness for the different voices! if not I would have been completely lost. There are so many characters in this book and most of them have multiple names that my head was spinning. On top of the fact that they have multiple names most of the Egyptian names are very similar, or a least in my confusion it sounds that way.
As I previously said I have not yet read Nightwalkers, I wish I would have known to first read that series I would have been ready and probably understood more about the World of Nightwalker. On my way to book 2, I look forward to it since its about her brother, and I really like his personality.
Worth a credit? Yes.
This is the first time I read/Listened to any Samantha Young books. I listened to the first one in the series On Dublin Street and enjoyed it very much, even the Narrator was ok with the accents. However, the accents and the different voices for this narrator was not great. It's a shame that this author does not keep the same narrator for all her books. I truly enjoyed the story, very well written and in some cases heartbreaking. As I was listening to this second book in the series I noticed I had missed a lot of other relationship discussions. I felt like I had skipped several books.
That's when I logged into the actual web site of Samantha Young and found out that there are 2 previous books prior to Before Jamaica Lane. the 2nd book in the series is Down London Road and the 3rd is Until Fountain Bridge. The 4th book is Before Jamaica Lane.
I'm not sure if this is an Audible.com Issue or Samantha Lane wanted them added in the system this way. I am one of those Audible listeners that when I listen to the first book and enjoy it I log into the the Series, click on the word series and down load all the books from the series. I have listened to over 300 books. But the two books mentioned above are not added in the list of the series so I did not purchase them. Nor will I purchase them now.
I gave this book a 4 star overall because I was not impressed with the narrator. But this is a great book and worth the credit.
Have been waiting for Donovan's story. I have always admired his strength and his personality. This is a great story as all the KGI books are. I did feel Maya Banks added a little too much in the Family and Love, it just felt like it was a bit overwhelming in every chapter of the book. But as always this is a great series!!
I wish they have stayed with the same narrator (Harry Berkeley). He had all the characters dead on in the first 5 books of the series. Love this series so I made the mistake of listening to all the books again prior to this release and it reminded me of how great the narrator Harry Berkeley was in the previous books. Adam Paul is also a very good Narrator I have listened to him in many other books, however his multiple voices are just not a good match for this series. He has a young mans voice and is not as tuff. Also his female voices just didn't sound good.
All in all this is one of my favorite series, I'm looking forward to the next book., I had pre-ordered this book, this is a must have in the series. Please try to get the next book out in the series soon. One year is just too long to wait.
I'm not sure if it was the narrator or the story, maybe both. I was bored from the very beginning to the last chapter. I was hoping the story would pick up, but it just keep lingering on. The narrators had no spunk in this story. It's sad because I really enjoyed the series. I have been looking forward to Williams story. But right now I don't think I even want to torture myself with listening to the voice of Max Bellmore. I have listened to hundreds of books some good and some not so good But I could not wait for this story to be over. I've always like Kane Lord of Disaster but I just could not get into this book. I had pre-ordered this book. Next time, I will wait for the reviews.
I listened to Book one and really enjoyed it. The reading is a bit slow, but the voice is great. So I purchased the next 3 books. This is book 2 and from the beginning I have been so bored, that I listen to a couple of chapters and skip a couple of chapters. I have even fallen asleep, woke up and I could still follow the story. I hope the next 2 books are not like this. I have 5 chapters left and can’t wait to finish this book. I have listened to hundreds of Audio books, but I honestly have to say this has been the most boring book I have listened to.
I was very glad to see that she didn't go back AS much into the past as in other books. However the entire book was about one scene only, I kept hitting my fast forward hoping that the fighting and her mental thinking would stop and other places and other scenes would come up. Vin's voice in this audio was way off. It didn't make him sound as manly and sexy as the other books. Plus not enough of the rest of the group. As for Owen, well grow up or leave the story. It's really disgusting how he's being portrayed after being this confident man in the past. I hope the next book is better , if not then I will end this series. I really like the characters and the story, but this book was to dull for me.
These are my favorite books, can't wait for the next one. This book was great and finally the story of Blay & Qhuinn. However I was so disappointed that the best part was in the last chapter. I would have like to hear more of the wonderful relationship between them. Also a lot of new people but I would have wanted to hear more about the rest of the group. Waiting for the next book is going to feel like eternity. Please hurry!!! I love these stories.
