Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

I have loved other books by Brandon Sanderson. This one was a total wast of time and audible credit.
40+ hours of nothing happening. Very Very slow moving. I actually skipped 21 hours in the middle of the book and I did not miss a thing. I went to the last of the book and listened to the end. I can not recommend this book to anyone. My wife listened to the first 3 sections and quit. I should have.

On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different - and uncertain - future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary: he would forgive.

A friend recommended this book and I am so glad that I listened. He tells the story with honesty and also the raw pain that anyone would feel. My heart was just torn apart by the pain that he suffered yet he chose to forgive and thus lose that additional hatred that could have ruined him. Most of us would have both the grief and the hatred that would eat at our souls. I hope that I can remember the lessons that were taught in this book. Thank you Mr. Williams!

I enjoy great YA books. This story is very enjoyable and like the title implies, it does play off of the Avatar movie. There is a mystery and the suspense is enjoyable. This is a great, lighthearted series. Carol drives me crazy, however in real life she is very close to a lot of middle school girl personalities.

    >When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

I love this type of story. Born Free, We bought a Zoo, etc. This true story of Lawrence's love for animals had me from the first sentence. The title is also perfect. I enjoyed his wife, employee's, and the multiple local tribes. It is a "feel good" book where a special man tackles a seemingly impossible project and through many trials makes it work. I was fascinated by the personalities of the elephants.

Very much a YA book. My heart went out to Aubrey when he found out the truth to his life and how he had unknowingly played a part in multiple deaths. As I look back on the book, there were some interesting themes, however as a whole the story seems too contrived for even YA to enjoy the implausible story and ending.

Would you consider the audio edition of I Am Pilgrim to be better than the print version?

Sure, however I have not read it. I enjoy Audible books because I can multi-task and I also enjoy the talented narrators whose voices bring the story to life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of I Am Pilgrim?

Not just one! It is action filled from beginning to end. However if I had to pick just one, it would be the end. I am not good at solving murder mysteries and I was surely caught off guard on this one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes!

    Any additional comments?

I usually do not enjoy books with multiple stories or twists and turns. However, I was fascinated with all of the stories and the perfect ending. 23 hours went by so fast.

Garrison Keillor's latest book is about the wedding of a girl named Dede Ingebretson, who comes home from California with a guy named Brent. Dede has made a fortune in veterinary aromatherapy; Brent bears a strong resemblance to a man wanted for extortion who's pictured on a poster in the town's post office. Then there's the memorial service for Dede's aunt Evelyn, who led a footloose and adventurous life after the death of her husband 17 years previously.

What would have made Pontoon better?

I have heard various Lake Wobegon stories on NPR and was anxious to listen to this. I love this type of dry humor. However, within the first half hour, I was very unimpressed with the constant barrage of sexual stories including Viagra. I guess that I am a prude, but proud of it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Garrison Keillor’s performances?

Sure, if I knew of any that were clean.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Pontoon?

    "Clean" it up.

For the first time ever - a comprehensive biography of one of the 20th century’s most innovative creative artists: the incomparable, irreplaceable Jim Henson He was a gentle dreamer whose genial bearded visage was recognized around the world, but most people got to know him only through the iconic characters born of his fertile imagination: Kermit the Frog, Bert and Ernie, Miss Piggy, Big Bird. The Muppets made Jim Henson a household name, but they were just part of his remarkable story.

If you could sum up Jim Henson in three words, what would they be?

    Talented, Kind, Giving

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jim of course. It was fascinating to find out the details of his life and how his shows, movies, and characters were thought up and then evolved. He was kind and gentle almost to a fault, thus endearing him to everyone close to him. My children grew up with Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, Dark Crystal, The Labyrinth, Ninja Turtles, The Muppets, etc. I do agree with Roald Dahl's opinion of Henson's version of The Witches Movie, I hate it! I was sad that the author did not go into detail about Sesame Street. Henson adored his children, throughout the book stories were interlaced with his love for them. That alone elevated my opinion of this gentle giant.

What about Kirby Heyborne’s performance did you like?

I did enjoy his performance, however he never did get any of the voices right which was a slight distraction.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Heavens no, it was too long.

    Any additional comments?

I was saddened that he was too stubborn to seek medical help when he became it. He could still be with us!

I enjoyed everything about this book! I am a grandmother and would like my g'kids to read this when they are older. It is a book that would bring younger children to to become interested in some stories in history. Kind of a Harry Potter situation where the students can witness history in a life like visual effect. Also an Avatar aspect where the students can control animals. I will be listening to more of this series. I also like Kirby Heyborne as the narrator.

Both needed each other. This book is in my top ten just because for some reason at this time in my life, the story touched me and I wanted to listen to it constantly. This book will go on my "to listen to again sometime in the future" list.
