On February 15, 2003, a group of thieves broke into an allegedly airtight vault in the international diamond capital of Antwerp, Belgium and made off with over $108 million dollars worth of diamonds and other valuables. They did so without tripping an alarm or injuring a single guard in the process.

A few have stated that the first section about the history and process of diamonds was boring. Yes, it was not the most exciting part of the book but learning about the history is fascinating. The heist, trials, etc. were very interesting, I love non-fiction like this. I need to go watch Oceans 11 again. They are not the exact same story, but some of the "real" story was used in the movie.

For the first time - in one Audible-exclusive collection - it's 13 stories of Jane Yellowrock, the shape-shifting skinwalker and vampire hunter for hire whose business card reads, "Have Stakes - Will Travel". Jane carries inside her the soul of her Beast, the mountain lion's soul which merged with hers when she accidently performed black magic as a child. Now, she and her Beast stalk the dark streets of New Orleans, bringing rogue vampires true death.

Great short stories. I enjoyed all but the first because it was entirely from the point of beast. Beast talk (I/we/us) is a little annoying, however the rest were fabulous!

At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

    Story

This book stole my heart, such a pleasant surprise! A true story from the 1950's London with some surprising similarities to a Dickens novel. I was shocked at the suburbs that seemed to have stopped in time . . . hard times. It was interesting to listen to Jennifer's opinion of people would change as she learned their story. She, like many of us, would sometimes make a negative first impression and as the story progresses, we were given insight that would provide understanding and admiration. The stories include patients and also fellow students and nuns.

Laos, 1975: The Communist Pathet Lao has taken over this former French colony. Dr. Siri Paiboun, a 72-year-old Paris-trained doctor, is appointed national coroner. Although he has no training for the job, there is no one else: the rest of the educated class have fled.

This book is a treasure! I loved Dr. Siri and his assistants, the government, and the culture. This is a book of attitudes, each character is well developed and has a place in my heart. This is not a fast-paced, high adventure narrative. It is just a grand, enjoyable story. Dr. Siri is always in some sort of mess and thumbs his nose at the government. I will probably listen to this again some time in the future.

This book is a gem. Do not expect high, fast adventure. This is the story of a simple, humble but brilliant man who touches everyone he meets on a long trip. This is kind of along the line of Mitch Albom's "Five People" book. I will probably listen to this again in a few years when I am looking for a story of an honest human with a big heart.

I am in awe of Mr. Nez who just died recently. I can't say enough about his honor and dedication to our country.
    1. The book details his life on the reservation and the atrocities that were committed.
    2. The development of the code
    3. The politics and details of the war.

The details from this book will stay with me forever.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

I know nothing about WWI and I love history. Ken Follett is a master story teller for these great sweeping sagas. I found that it helped me to download the list of characters from the internet to help keep track of all the story lines. It is fascinating to watch the main characters from each country develop and paths cross. The stories reach from the very, very poor who work in clothing factories and coal mines to the "lives of the rich and famous" rulers. Well written and well narrated.

Her books are loosely based on fairy tales.

How dare she? There is a copy-cat Snow Queen and the REAL Snow Queen Fairy Godmother must leave her ice castle to honor her reputation. Along the way, she is joined by others who have their own reason to reach the evil Snow Queen. This is a great adventure with great characters to entertain.

I love these stories, each is very loosely based upon a fairy tale. This one is The Little Mermaid because of a mermaid and a land guy, however that is the only similarity. These books are easy to listen to and have creative plots.

On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different - and uncertain - future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary: he would forgive.

A friend recommended this book and I am so glad that I listened. He tells the story with honesty and also the raw pain that anyone would feel. My heart was just torn apart by the pain that he suffered yet he chose to forgive and thus lose that additional hatred that could have ruined him. Most of us would have both the grief and the hatred that would eat at our souls. I hope that I can remember the lessons that were taught in this book. Thank you Mr. Williams!
