You can't get away from suffering. That's the good news, teaches Pema Chodron. For at the core of your most painful experiences, you will find the seeds of your awakening. On Noble Heart, this best-selling author and Tibetan Buddhist nun shows you how vulnerability is our greatest spiritual resource amid life's difficulties. Using special meditations and teachings, she shows how to cultivate your own noble heart, one that sheds its armor, and opens fearlessly to both heartache and delight.

Jim says: "Wonderful, like a personal retreat"
    "Perfect for In-home Study"
    Overall

I found this audio book was best listened to at home when I had the time to participate in the meditations. I would recommend it to people who are starting out in Buddhism and who would like to set up a regular meditation and study session at home, or for those who have restricted access to a Buddhist community.

Mickey is startled to find a statue of Rose in a museum; a statue that is 2,000 years old. The Doctor realises that this means the TARDIS will shortly take them to Ancient Rome, but when it does, he and Rose soon have more on their minds than sculpture.

If you could sum up Doctor Who in three words, what would they be?

My 9 year old loves this one. Not too spooky or hard to follow with a great story featuring the best doctor/companion combination. It's a shame Jacqueline Rayner hasn't written more Dr Who stories.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rose, she is the best companion by far. Then Jackie who is always a treat.

What about David Tennant’s performance did you like?

Everything, from his ability to read well, his funny voice work (particularly Jackie and Mickey) and his dreamy accent of course!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    It was just plain enjoyable.

    Any additional comments?

Definately recommended for the younger Who fan but is great for any age.

  • The Jewel Tree of Tibet: The Enlightenment of Tibetan Buddhism

Tibetans call their cherished tradition of Buddhism a "wish-fulfilling jewel tree" for its power to generate bliss and enlightenment within all who absorb its teachings. This path to enlightenment, it is taught, requires more than a sitting meditation practice alone. With The Jewel Tree of Tibet, honored scholar and teacher Robert Thurman brings these insights to you as they were meant to be transmitted, through the spoken word.

    K. Cunningham says: "beautiful Buddhist teachings"
"Robert Thurman is brimming with energy and wit"
    Overall

As a serious Buddhist, I find Robert Thurman to be engaging, authentic and hilarious. In The Jewel Tree of Tibet he manages to make a rather huge chunk of Tibetan Buddhism easy to grasp and easy to digest.
If you are an intermediate to advanced practitioner, this is definitely one worth listening to.
