Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses, which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of our existence. The classic text of these 81 verses, called the Tao Te Ching or the Great Way, offers advice and guidance that is balanced, moral, spiritual, and always concerned with working for the good.

I don't think this title makes the translation from print to audio all that well. I think My Dywer has said all he has to say of interest in previous books.

First, there was the brutal abduction and murder of two young girls. And now a third is missing, presumably gone to the same end. Detective Sergeant John Rebus, smoking and drinking too much, his own young daughter spirited away south by his disenchanted wife, is one of many policemen hunting the killer. And then the messages begin to arrive: knotted string and matchstick crosses, taunting Rebus with pieces of a puzzle only he can solve.

After reading this book, I can see how Rankin's hero Rebus has become so popular. A well contsructed and entertaining story read by a Scotsman. This audio book is TV without pictures.
