This rich, timely, and highly original portrait of the Buddha explores both the archetypal religious icon and Buddha the man. In lucid and compelling prose, Armstrong brings to life the Buddha's quest, from his renunciation of his privileged life to the discovery of a truth that he believed would utterly transform human beings and enable them to live at peace in the midst of life's suffering.

    "Academic"
    Overall

I found this to be a very academic look at the life of the Buddha. It was interesting to a point but I don't think those of us who are interested in the spirituality of Buddhism will find chronilogical review of his life very satisfying.

John Kendall knows how to survive. He's written six handbooks on the subject. Now he wants to become a novelist, preferably without starving to death. But when cold and hunger set in, Kendall impulsively accepts an unlikely job. He is to research and write a biography of Tremayne Vickers, a famous racehorse trainer.

    "Sounds Horrible"
    Overall

This might be a great book. I don't know. The sound quality is so bad it has distracted me since I started listening. It's too bad because I have liked what I can hear.

If you liked A Prayer for Owen Meany don't waste your time on this. It is utterly horrible.
