In the wake of a humbling incident aboard a canal boat in the Cotswolds, young Captain Horatio Hornblower arrives in London to take command of the Atropos, a 22-gun sloop barely large enough to require a captain. Her first assignment under Hornblower's command is as flagship for the funeral procession of Lord Nelson. Soon Atropos is part of the Mediterranean Fleet's harassment of Napoleon, recovering treasure that lies deep in Turkish waters

What disappointed you about Hornblower and the Atropos?

    The reader.

What could C. S. Forester have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

He did everything right, Mr. Coster butchered it in his reading.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Nicolas Coster?

    Christin Rodska

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It wasn't the book it was the reader.

    Any additional comments?

I'm sure there are books Mr. Coster has read that he did a fine job with, This wasn't one of them.

What would have made Thuvia, Maid of Mars better?

OMG! This reader is just awful. I listened for about five minutes and had to turn him off. Of the over 200 audible books I have he is by far the worst.

Would you ever listen to anything by Edgar Rice Burroughs again?

Most of the readers of this seris are very good,

    Any additional comments?

Yeah, tell the reader not to quit his day job. He is going to need it.

Clancy plunges hero Jack Ryan into nonstop high adventure, as two seemingly unrelated occurrences being a chain of events that will stun the world. Called out of retirement to serve as National Security Advisor to the president, Ryan, with the help of CIA officers John Clark and Domingo Chavez, must prepare the untested president to meet the challenges of a new world order.

Louann says: "Narrator not so great"
"Dull and Monotonous. A painful listen."

What would have made Debt of Honor better?

    Someone else reading it.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Executive Orders and Hunger Games

What didn’t you like about John MacDonald’s performance?

    Nothing absolutely nothing.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment

    Any additional comments?

One of the traits that a reader must have is that his voice is not monotonous. I would recommend at least for this book that it is passed up. It is painful to listen to. I am not a big fan of the other main reader for the Clancy series but he is worlds better than Mr. MacDonald. Stay away from this one. I returned this book, the first in at least a hundred books I have from Audible that I have returned.
