At the end of Shadow of the Giant, Bean flees to the stars with three of his children--the three who share the engineered genes that gave him both hyper-intelligence and a short, cruel physical life. The time dilation granted by the speed of their travel gives Earth’s scientists generations to seek a cure, to no avail. In time, they are forgotten - a fading ansible signal speaking of events lost to Earth’s history. But the Delphikis are about to make a discovery that will let them save themselves, and perhaps all of humanity in days to come.

What made the experience of listening to Shadows in Flight the most enjoyable?

The Performers for Scotts works are always stellar. I never get lost.

Would you be willing to try another book from Orson Scott Card? Why or why not?

Yes. Overall I enjoy Scotts books and have listened to all the Endervers except for the prequel with another writer.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

All these people are top notch and I get comfort listening to their voices on the road.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I was disappointed that Scott admitted in interviews that the book was shortened to get into multiple publications for the almighty dollar. It seemed a bit weak. But I would not have failed to listen. In earlier statements this book was supposed to tie together all the other story lines and I don't feel it did, at least to my satisfaction. I do hope he continues the story line.

The Mote In God's Eye is their acknowledged masterpiece, an epic novel of mankind's first encounter with alien life that transcends the genre. No lesser an authority than Robert A. Heinlein called it "possibly the finest science fiction novel I have ever read".
