I must've listened to this a hundred times and never tire of it. Gielgud's performance is phenomenal. Surely the best Shakespeare recording available on audible.

My biggest complaint with BBC radio Shakespeare is their modernizing of the bard's songs and I'm not a big fan of their background music either. As You Like It though is tolerable enough in both of these areas, I personally would prefer something more authentic but it is good for what it is. The biggest draw to this production is Helena Bonham Carter who I thought was fabulous, who wouldn't fall in love with her Rosalind. More than any of the other BBC comedies this is one I eagerly look forward to listening to again and again.

Loved this novel and loved Blaisdell as narrator. This was my first experience with Dreiser and for whatever reasons was expecting something much dryer (yah yah, I see the pun) but was really surprised how impassioned and quick the novel moved, no doubt Blaisdell played a significant role in this. I will definitely be looking into other Dreiser novels in the future.

My first Roth/Audible experience with American Pastoral blew me away, story was wonderful and Ron Silver's narration I thought to be flawless (a miracle really). I then listened to Operation Shylock by Fritz Weaver whose narration was exceptional and The Counterlife and Patrimony by George Guidal who again I thought did an excellent job. Unfortunately Dennis Boutsikaris I feel to be the weakest Roth narrator I've encountered so far. He's passable but for Roth's ranting style a higher degree of energy is needed than Dennis seems capable of delivering. As one gets further into the story he seemed to be more tolerable and if you are a Roth fan by all means get this book (my favorite next to American Pastoral so far) but just don't get your hopes up on the narrator. Of course, my girlfriend hated Ron Silver's narration and for those of you who like your story straight without too much emotion, this might be for you!

This is my second audiobook by Roth, first was American Pastoral, and found it very enjoyable--full of his dark humor--"there's no business like Shoah business" ect... and as another reviewer mentioned it has enough pyschologizing to be meditated over for weeks. I'd recommend listening to American Pastoral first but this is a good listen and Fritz Weaver has done an excellent reading!

If your idea of a good book on spirituality is the Davinci Code or The Celestine Prophecy than this book is not likely for you. If on the other hand you are a lover of the great books and look to Shakespeare for spirituality than Crowley will not disappoint. A book that tries to make magic something more than new-age spirituality, to reawaken the weight and power it once possessed.
