When first published in 1759, Candide became an instant best seller and is now regarded as one of the key texts of the Enlightenment. Voltaire’s preoccupations with evil and with various kinds of human folly and intolerance found a perfect vehicle in this philosophical tale. A master storyteller, he combined often wildly entertaining action with profoundly serious sense, parodying the traditional chivalric and oriental tales with which his public was more familiar.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Very much so, listening to the book for me was much better than reading it. The narrator, really made me understand the situations and characters much better than when I read it.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Candide realizes that the world is really made up of hypocrites, cheaters, fanatics, and insanity of religion.

    Any additional comments?

When I read this book in school it just didn't get the way this audio version has. It really expresses Voltaire's views of religion, had the human condition that make religion flourish and manipulate man kind. A very simple book that show haw humanity even 250 years later has not changed much.

Would you consider the audio edition of Secured Undercover to be better than the print version?

    Never saw print

What was one of the most memorable moments of Secured Undercover?

Besides the ending which I won't blow for those who haven't listened. In the start of the book a delivery boy brings flowers to Flower, and he asks her for her phone number. She realizes he's hitting on her and she say's I have bra's that are older than you. I laughed so hard. Some funny moment and some touching ones.

What does Hollie Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I've listened to Hollie Jackson narrate several books and I think she's great.

    Any additional comments?

This was a great short book that really was enjoyable. I plan on getting more books by this author.

For nearly 2,000 years, only one Druid has walked the Earth - Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company. Atticus’ apprentice, Granuaile, is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do.

What did you love best about Shattered?

Brought in new character, loved the old guy trying to get used to 2000 years of progress in just a few weeks.....but he's a druid, so it flies. People were complaining about too many characters to follow. I had no problem. The story was twisted and in the end you find out some things that I guess will take us into the next book. But it was pretty awesome

Who was your favorite character and why?

Always love Oboron the dog. He keeps everything real. REALLY.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I love his narrations, he does voices and emotions wonderfully. One of my favorites is "600 hours of Edward" When I see him as narrator I always check out what the book is about.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Actually I did it was the 4th weekend and I listened straight through with a few breaks for food and other breaks. Didn't want to let go until I knew what would happen.

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the next book and I hope Luke Daniels Narrates that as well he's wonderful.

If you could sum up Better Homes and Hauntings in three words, what would they be?

    Amazing character grouping

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved all the main characters but Nina really was my favorite because she became stronger as the story progressed, wanting to help other characters, and realizing her strengths

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Amanda Ronconi is amazing, She did all the characters really great, sometimes I think she does the villeins too well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did, I stayed up until it got to the very end. Couldn't help myself, I'm hooked on Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait to see what Molly Harper comes up with next. She's great with supernatural stories, and she really makes you laugh out loud at some of the situations.

Where does FREE Better Homes and Hauntings: Chapters 1 and 2 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Made me itchy for the rest of the book to come out. I love Molly Harper, her writing is usually so funny I'm laughing out loud, and with audio books that can be disturbing. (especially the strange looks you get at the park)

What was one of the most memorable moments of FREE Better Homes and Hauntings: Chapters 1 and 2?

When chapter two ended I couldn't believe almost an hour had gone buy. I have in my wish list to purchase as soon as it becomes available.

    Which scene was your favorite?

So far at the end of chapter inventing a drinking game, you have to hear in in Ronconi's voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi seem to hit the nail on the head every time. Harper's words and Ronconi's narrations. I've heard Amanda Ronconi do other narrations and she's fabulous with all her work. I always look for certain narrators when new books are available. Ms Ronconi is one of my favorites.

    Any additional comments?

I'm straining at the bit for this book........Don't know what else to say.

Written by Naoki Higashida, a very smart, very self-aware, and very charming thirteen-year-old boy with autism, The Reason I Jumpis a one-of-a-kind memoir that demonstrates how an autistic mind thinks, feels, perceives, and responds in ways few of us can imagine. Parents and family members who never thought they could get inside the head of their autistic loved one at last have a way to break through to the curious, subtle, and complex life within.

    Story
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, the last chapter really totally took the subject of autism out of the contexts of this book. Really disappointing, if indeed written by a thirteen year old who wanted to add a religious aspect to his feelings then maybe, but it just made me feel totally annoyed

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It totally had nothing to do with Autism. As an Atheist, this was something that totally was added for effect. (whether it was done for effect or for emotion) it totally turned me off

    Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed all of the book up until the last two chapters. It talked about autism, from the point of the person who has autism. (As a person gets older, with the help of teachers and family with lots of patients some one with autism can learn) I recently read "600 hours with Edward" developmentally disabled adult with OCD. Even though he was high functioning adult with Asperger syndrome, and OCD. and it was fiction, I got a lot out of it and I think others would as well

Could you see The Reason I Jump being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, It would be too demanding, maybe a movie if they left the last two chapters out.

    Any additional comments?

When writing about a disorder, especially from the patients point of view, I had no clue of this persons views on religion, and why they put it in the last two chapters was beyond me. Other than that, avoid the last two chapters and enjoy this book it's well read and truly expresses what it's like to be a prisoner of autism

His carefully constructed routine includes tracking his most common waking time (7:38 a.m.), refusing to start his therapy sessions even a minute before the appointed hour (10:00 a.m.), and watching one episode of the 1960s cop show Dragnet each night (10:00 p.m.). If you could sum up 600 Hours of Edward in three words, what would they be?

    Emotionally, Eye-opening, and informative.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that Edward was able to learn, with the help of his therapist and things hat happened in his life to step into becoming stronger for himself.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and he does a wonderful job with all the voices and emotions of all characters. Both women and men. Very talented narrator

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not all disabilities are visible, and those that aren't are sometimes the hardest to overcome.

    Any additional comments?

This story really gave you a perspective of what it's live to be an adult with social dysfunctions and OCD. (And from what I understand Edward was mildly dysfunctional, because he was able to live on his own and take care of himself) This was a touching and entertaining story that you'll want to listen to in one sitting.

Would you listen to B Is for Bondage again? Why?

Very much so, the stories were well written and well narrated. I enjoy ALL types of Erotica, Kinky, Gay, Straight, everything if it's well written and narrated can light you up. (Unless you have phobias about certain kinks) I really don't have any so maybe that's why I enjoy Ms Tyler's anthologies. I have over a dozen and enjoy them all and so does my spouse.

What other book might you compare B Is for Bondage to and why?

If you've listened to any of Ms Tyler's anthologies you'll find they mostly revolve around kink, bondage or BD/SM but you'll find gender play and pain/pleasure. etc. Remember where talking about consenting adults and much of this is make believe. It's ok to imagine and use your mind to get off.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

She did voices and emotions very well. In bondage and S/M there will be different emotions and voices she did a very good job of expressing each character

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is erotica, you should have extreme reactions, some should turn you on or make you get ideas to play around with your loved one. (as long as you both want to play) Like any book of fiction you have to take what you want and leave the rest.

    Any additional comments?

I always look for Alison Tyler's books and anthologies, along with Rachel Kramer Brussel, Violet Blue, DL King, Sinclare Sexsmith. just a few of the editors who put together great anthologies of erotica. Looking forward to the next book in this series since it goes from A-Z

Yes, I really enjoyed the story and Simon Vance is one of my favorite narrators. He made the story come alive and the emotions, of the people and the stories of the land and it's difficulties really touched me. I know I missed a few things and will have to listen again.

What did you like best about this story?

How Lawrence Anthony fought to save these rogue elephants against all odds and at some points succeeded, and at others he did not. Noting was 100 %. But the story did teach lessons.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

As always Simon Vance and his performance is fantastic. I have several books that he has narrated (one of the reasons I got this book)

Yes, but I won't say because it will ruin the story

This was an amazing story and I'd love to hear a follow up about his progress for saving animals in Africa.

Where does Sweet Danger: Erotic Stories of Forbidden Desire for Couples rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Violet Blue, is a great writer of erotica, and great editor of anthologies of erotica. This is a really great collection of couples having what most people would consider dangerous encounters for their relationship. However it all works so well here. Out of the 22 stories I really found there was something to like in all of them. Yes there will always be one or two you like more than others but this was really well worth the listen for me.

What other book might you compare Sweet Danger: Erotic Stories of Forbidden Desire for Couples to and why?

There are so many, if you look up any anthologies by Rachel Kramer Brussel and Alison Tyler you'll find a whole bunch of titles that are kinky enough to share with your favorite person.

What about Rose Caraway’s performance did you like?

She did an excellent job of narration, with male voices and female voices. Also expressing emotions.

    Any additional comments?

This anthology was put together very well,, as I would expect some one like Violet Blue to do. I enjoyed all the stories. (again in an anthology you will like some more than others) however I didn't dislike any. Well worth purchase.
