Starting out with a young girl sold into slavery. She is hostile and bitter because of her mistreatment. You expect something to change as she starts to grow to be a young woman, but this character is so vial that at the end of the book you can't understand how she actually was able to get away with all that she did. Yes there was magical powers involved but the story just left me empty. at the half way point I skipped to the last 20 minutes. It really didn't get better I enjoy the Narrator but this was a total waste of a credit.
So many rave reviews, I was expecting something exciting and different. This was parents abusing their child and then pushing her into an abusive marriage. (with legal contracts so she was trapped). 95% of the sex was sad, especially when it was part of her contractual agreement of marriage.
Savanna Richards made the story bearable, because of her narration, however the circumstances and story line were so contrived and demented, I found myself fast forwarding though some scenes. (They felt redundant)
Hard to say but much of the gratuitous forced sex that Victoria was involved with. She did it for TEN YEARS.....That's what blew me away. Yes the end was fairly decent, but it didn't make up for hours of pathetic situations that this young woman was forced into. It reminded me of (white slavery) It was degrading and the only good thing was that Steward died.
This was the first Aleatha Roming book I've ever gotten. Most likely there won't be another.
I've only ever listened to the audio version. (Mostly for narrator Susan Ericksen). She brings the characters to life. and you never have to think about which character is speaking.
This story was a bit different, (Nora Roberts aka JD Robb) is a wonderful author, and can really develop interesting situations and characters. She wouldn't be so well read if she couldn't keep her fans entertained.
I've listened to Susan Erickesn narrate other books as well, she's one of my favorite narrators. She's great with emotions and accents, also she can do a range of voices from children to men.
Well I usually get to laugh several times in any of the "In Death" stories. Especially any interaction between Eve and Summerset, or Eve and Peabody.....some of the moments are priceless.
This book took Eve from a loaner who wouldn't really rely on anyone or befriend anyone, because of her past, to some one who has many friends and has opened her heart to those who have shared their lives with her. If you've followed the series you see an amazing change in many of the characters over the years. I can't wait to see what will come up in the next book. Book 41 should be really interesting.
This is Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi, and it made all the difference in the world. It shows how Lacey grows a backbone and starts to become the woman she was meant to be. As the story progresses, she learns more about the dirt bag husband she married and more about what she's willing to do to get her life back on track. I always laugh with all of Molly Harper books, but this one was one of the best. I found myself laughing out loud so many times, to the point of tears.
There were so many that were fantastic, but one of the best was when Lacey goes swimming buff and her neighbor, Monroe thinks she's trying to drown herself and tries to save her. She goes into a rant telling him off and when she's finished she just then realizes she's butt naked.
Yes, in all of Molly Harper books, but other books as well. She's a great narrator and when I see her name as narrator of a book I always check it out.
Lacey, but so many of the characters in this story made it what it was her husband Mike, his girlfriend Bee, Mike's mother, Monroe. Lacey's brother was awesome.
I love Molly Harper and when I need a lift I'll go back and listen to one of her books. (all narrated by Amanda Ronconi) Some are funnier than others..... but this one is really at the top of the heap. If you want to feel good Molly Harper can do that for you.
Wonderful kinky fun
The stories were all new to me and very well written and narrated. It's rate that there's not a duplicate story from other anthologies, this was well worth the money or credit. The narrators did a great job as well to keep you interested in the characters.
More anthologies should be like this, if you like erotica, is is a really good one to get.
You must follow the series from start to finish, and yes I would
Amanda Ronconi is a great narrator,if you've listened to any of Molly Harper's books you are familiar with er voice and work
You want to drink this book, but not enough time to do in one shot......if only
This was a great series, with a great ending. Fantastic Author.
A different slant on the GRIM REAPER mystique. The fact that, they recruit troubled teens to become Reapers, is really different. People complained about the narrator, however I was able to slow down the narration by 1/4, and it really helped. If your player can do this you may find that many other narrations are enjoyable, especially when it's a female high pitched voice.
There was a bit of everything, sadness, lots of snarky humor, and interesting twists and turns in the story line. Good character development as well.
I had to slow the narration to get a better feel to the story, and by doing that it was very enjoyable. I
Yes, SPOILER ALERT, when she has to Reap Cory. Very emotional
Even though this is really for young adults, as an individual who enjoys urban fantasy, I really did enjoy this story. I'm looking forward to the next in this series.
The character development and MICHAEL KRAMER. (He's a fantastic narrator for Fantasy) ie "Wheel of Time" series. It took a while to follow because the time lines did jump around but it only takes a few chapters to get comfortable with that.
Several series "Warded Man" "Wheel of Time" several more but can't pull up off hand. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series, especially if Michael Kramer continues to narrate. One of my favorite narrators for this genre.
Many times and he never disappoints, he is great at doing different characters, emotions and accents. A true artist.
If I only had the time. I most certainly would have. I'm very excited at finding a new fantasy series with a great narrator to follow. I'm very impressed with the story line and all the different twists and turns that pop up.
I don't know when book two in this series will come out, but I hope it won't take as long as waiting for other series books. (Wheel of Time). So many authors start out with a great first book but then they get stuck, I'm hoping Mr. Cooper has his story line well developed and will make his new fans happy very soon.
I have all of Larry Corriea's audio books and have listened to them more than once. All the narrators of every book have been great and the stories are usually nonstop action.
While Joe is helping the Japanese try to fight the Russian Deacon, he blasts the USA national anthem from the speakers of the robot he's working .....To the dismay of the Japanese ......
Bronson Pinchot is a fantastic narrator, when I see that he's doing a narration, I almost always listen to see if I think I'd want to get that book. He can do every voice and accent and emotions. I enjoy his narrations very much...one of my top 10
It was very easy to do because it was just about an hour.
Anytime I see Larry Corriea has a new book available I automatically get it, I've never been disappointed ever. One of my favorite narrators with one of my favorite authors....how awesome is that. .
I would and have recommended this series to several of my friends. Anyone who enjoys The Dresden Files, or Felix Castor series, or John Taylor & The Night Side series has to love this one.
I can only compare it to other series of books and I named them above.
Gilbert Jackson is wonderful in this series. He does both male and female voices and emotions of all characters fantastically, I hope he continues to narrate this series. I also hope that more books in this series come out real soon. I finished all five books in this series in under 10 days.....
Sometimes you have to be bad to be good.
This series shows that both good people can be nasty and that nasty people can be good. We are humans after all and make choices. I love that about this series. Also that the characters grow in each book to show new strengths in their personality. Must have more Alex...
When I turned on to Audible and saw this offering I was thrilled. Since just reading about "Flanders Fields" in my Sunday newspaper, it was just a wonderful gift to your loyal customers for this time of year.
What happened that Christmas of 1914 one hundred years ago can not be compared to anything that I know of. Truth is often stranger than fiction.
This was done beautifully with a full cast. I usually don't like sound effects in my audio books but it was done with style and class. There were many times I laughed out loud at the British dry humor. I also felt emotional about the deaths from war.
It was easy enough to do that is was just over an hour long. I didn't know where that hour went it had me so engrossed listening to the story.
I love that the story is coming from one of the officers writing to a mother of one of his comrades who died and served with him ......the letter is written ten years after, to the mother. I can't imagine a mother not knowing about her son because no one bothered to contact her that he had died in the service of his country. Yes this is fictionalized about that time but it none the less shows that we are all human, Thank you Audibe for this wonderful gift.
