  • Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity

In this New York Times best seller, David Limbaugh exposes the liberal hypocrisy of promoting political correctness while discriminating against Christianity. From the elimination of school prayer to the story of Christianity in America being eradicated from history textbooks, this persuasive book shows that our social engineers inculcate hostility toward Christianity and its values in the name of diversity, tolerance, and multiculturalism.

I was pleasantly surprised by this audio book. Mr. Limbaugh?s reading is a bit dry, but his voice is clear and easy to listen too.

The books does exactly what the author intends. It draws a clear picture of the growing anti-Christian bias in our society. Whether intended or not, Christians and the Christian worldview face increased hostility in a postmodern world. Mr. Limbaugh makes good use of actual events and court decisions to prove his thesis.

Whether one agrees with this position or not, I highly recommend the book.

    Positive:
This show is well produced and there are things to be learned from it. It's like a comfortable conversation around the coffee table.

    Neutral:
The guests are a mixed lot. Sometimes knowledgable, interesting and wise. Sometimes none of the above.

    Negative:
The show presents differing (sometimes opposite) views on matters of faith and religion. Thayt is good and well, but the show makes no attempt to find truth. The host is sweet and gracious which is also good, but she is too soft. Hardhitting questions that need to be asked are often not. A recent show concerning Islam was particularly shallow. Another show concerning gay marrigage had two strong guests with opposite positions. Both positions cannot be correct. Deeper and more challenging questions were needed.

    Summary:
A well produced show with occasionally good content. I like this show enough to keep listening to it and hoping to learn from it. However, given it's shortcomings I can only rate it at 3 stars.

  • Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

Sinners in the Hands of Angry God is considered the most famous sermon ever preached in American history. Jonathan Edwards delivered this message on July 8, 1741, in Enfield, Connecticut. Many who heard it trembled and cried out for mercy. Others fainted. Five hundred people were converted that day.

    Story

Max McLean's reading, as usual, is first rate. The sermon is indeed one of the greats of all time. However, not everyone will want to hear this message. It stresses the wrath of God more than His Love and the doomed position of mankind more than the "Good News" of Jesus Christ. The "Good News" is all the more incredible when one understands the "Bad News." Edwards clearly lays out the "Bad News" and thus the necessity of the Gospel.

Finding logical inconsistencies, factual errors, and doublespeak wherever he looks, Al Franken takes on and destroys the myth of liberal bias in the media, hoists the Bush White House on its own rhetorical petard, and punctures the mean-spirited sanctimony of such media darlings as Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly. Timely, provocative, unfailingly honest, and always uproarious, Lies is sure to raise hackles and spark hilarity inside the Beltway and from sea to shining sea.

    Story

This is a thoroughly awful book written in a low style, very mean and nasty. Mr Franken contradicts himself, sometimes on the same page. The book needs editing, fact checking, and a lot less "spin." Don't waste your time.
