..this reader made me cringe. I finished the audio because it was a good story & I didn't see it in print. There were times it was almost painful to listen. I'll read the author again for sure but the narrator won't get a 2nd chance.
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I chose it for the author. This is a provocative & controversial work which many will find offensive. I read this straight through & was glad I did. It is intense, sensual, & sexual yet there are no explicitly erotic scenes. As far as category, it's kind of Forbidden Romance.
This is a charming book. Both a light read & a good mystery. I didn't guess the identity of the fiend until the end & that's always a good thing. The story is set in 1930's London which is a plus to me as I'm a sucker for an English mystery. I really enjoyed Kellren's narration.
VERY good. Justine O'Keefe did a good job with narration. I shall indeed read the series, but at my age I'd better space them out!
I am not a fan of Nora Roberts. But I loved her Seven Signs paranormal trilogy so I read Dark Witch & loved it too. Kellgren's narration seemed a bit much in the 1st couple chapters. But as more characters entered she kinda grew on me & I really loved it. I'm looking forward to Shadow Spell & I hope Kellgren is the narrator.
OK, this is really a 3.5 star book.
I liked it, enjoyed it & want more.
BUT it's not really that good of a book that it should have kept me up reading straight thru; but it did. I couldn't stop.
I'll probably read it again.
tis a puzzlement
Compelling and provocative,The Testament of Mary is a must read. Very emotional. Mary is full of the pain of doubt, regret, guilt and longing for the happy times of the past.
Resentful of the men writing their version of her story, she tells us her truths.
As I have always thought that because the Bible was written by man it couldn't be accurate, I loved this spin on man's interference.
A good story & a good 1st in series book. Definitely a mystery only for paranormal lit fans.
The narration is old school in that it's not a performance. Ms. Michaels reads to you as you would to yourself. That's ok, it was pleasant but it made me realize how spoiled I am by 'performances'. All in all, it was good enough that I'll try book 2.
This an OK read. Kinda cute, kinda cozy. I'm sure I would not have finished this in print. It's really a 2.5 star but I'm sweet & always round up. I'll try something else of hers someday. Maybe even another Devereaux Dime Store Mystery!
I can hardly believe there are so many negative comments about this book on some of my other sites. For me it is a solid 5 on several levels. I totaly enjoyed this book. It is one of the better series enders I've read.
It was time for this series to end. Yes CH could have drug it out a few more books, but what for?
CH left no strings hanging. Each story line is tied up neatly. But not so tight that she can't go back to it, or a character for other works.
I can't say more, I don't want to spoil it for y'all ♥
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy meets Monty Python in a throughly enjoyable LOL story. Martin Jarvis' narration is as perfect for this book as Jim Dale was for Harry Potter. Definately not for the seriously religious, & an appreciation for the type of humor of the afore mentioned Monty Python is essential. Prepare to be entertained!
