Debut novelist Eowyn ivey’s experience living in the Alaskan wilderness brings a palpable authenticity to The Snow Child. Alaska in the 1920s is a difficult place for Jack and Mabel. Drifting apart, the childless couple discover Faina, a young girl living alone in the wilderness. Soon, Jack and Mabel come to love Faina as their own. Code Name Verity is a compelling, emotionally rich story with universal themes of friendship and loyalty, heroism and bravery. Two young women from totally different backgrounds are thrown together during World War II: one a working-class girl from Manchester, the other a Scottish aristocrat, one a pilot, the other a wireless operator. Yet whenever their paths cross, they complement each other perfectly and before long become devoted friends. But then a vital mission goes wrong....

If you could sum up Code Name Verity in three words, what would they be?

    enjoyable, suspenseful and believable

What was one of the most memorable moments of Code Name Verity?

For me the most memorable moment in Code Name Verity is when one narrator suddenly revealed who she was.

What about Morven Christie and Lucy Gaskell ’s performance did you like?

To me, their voices were so similar, it was like listening to a pair of sisters reading their memoir to me.

    Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book. I enjoyed the story of friendship, endurance and bravery during a horrible time.

Don't mess with the creepy new girl. Ryan Devlin, a predator with a past, has been forced to take a job as a handyman at an exclusive private school, Crossley College. He's losing his battle to suppress his growing fascination with a new girl who seems to have a strange effect on the children around her. Tara Marais fills her empty days by volunteering at Crossley's library. Tara is desperate, but unable, to have a baby of her own, so she makes Reborns - eerily lifelike newborn dolls. She's delighted when she receives a commission from the mysterious 'Vader Batiss', but horrified when she sees the photograph of the baby she's been asked to create....

Music has set the tone for most of Zoe Baxter’s life. And it’s music that brings her back to love. When fertility issues lead to a divorce, Zoe throws herself into her career as a music therapist. As an unexpected friendship with a woman slowly blossoms into love, she makes plans for a new life, but to her shock and inevitable rage, some people - even those she loves and trusts most - don’t want that to happen.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I have no clue who would like this book. The music is atrocious, the reading was flat and the story was NOT what I thought that it was going to be from the synapses.

Has Sing You Home turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I won't listen to this author again, her style is horrible.

What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?

The readers are flat and unrealistic.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Sing You Home?

I would have cut the songs.

    Any additional comments?

I hate this book. I have yet to finish it, but it is just frustrating to listen to. I will not finish.
