I like the stories but not as much as Sookie. I think I would like it better if they dropped some of the theratrics. Such as the echo of the gun shots and lay off some of the music. The characters are interesting so I ordered the next in the series.
I am a member of a book club. I sometimes forget why I belong to it because I really like my vampire books. This book is the reason. I would not have read this book if it did not show up on the monthly list. It tell a true story of life in India. The characters are real. You feel for their plight. You hope for them. It is a travesty they live like they do. I now have a better understanding of a place I will never visit. I wish at the end of the book there was a suggestion of how to help or what would help this society as a whole.
It is difficult to say why I enjoy this series. In polite society I might deny being a big fan but I am. The action, sex and men of every flavor? Maybe that's it?
I really enjoyed book one and two. I cant wait for book three to come out on Audible. I enjoyed it so much I might break down and actually read book three.
Charley is witty, adhd and a bad ass. I love the series I finished book 1, 2 and 3 in succession. The series is as good as Harrison, Briggs, Butcher and Harris. The reader, Lorelei king also read Briggs's Mercy. She is an outstanding reader. Enjoy!
The story has love, good and evil. This is my first Nora Roberts book. It is entertaining without a lot of blood, guts or violence so it is rare. I enjoy the small town atmosphere where everyone knows everyone else. The book is consistently entertaining but it is not riveting either. This is book one which is read by a mans man which I found sultry. Book 2 was read well by a women but threw me off track because I was expecting Mr. Sexy.
The reader is a good one but a little too old style for the role. The story was slow in the beginning but picks up in the middle. I do not like rape in stories so that took away from the enjoyment. When I out of good options I will listen to the next one.
The book was entertaining once you are able to tolerate the reader. Something about listening to a story told by a 12 year old (figuratively) was difficult. If the book was read by the twilight reader it would have been easier to listen to and more enjoyable. The characters are teenagers and the book is definitely meant for young adults. The story has some surprises and a couple twists which make it worth listening to. I might listen to the next book but will definitely see the movie when it comes out.
I could not get through this book. Jane's recount of her self in animal form and talk in the third person was painful. It might have been better if the reader down played some of the sarcasm but she accented it instead. This is probably what a reader should do. The writer and reader combination was not a good one. I would chose a different book.
Felix is witty, sarcastic with a soft streak at least sometimes. I really enjoyed the series. I hope Mike Carey writes another book. The characters are well developed and unusual. The reader is good once you get used to him. Im not a big fan of English readers so if you like them you'll love the reader.
I hate to see the series end, I loved Sookie. I give credit to Charlaine Harris for ending it when she could have made money on more books. Charlaine Harris said she has nothing left to write about Sookie. I believe her. She pulled the lose ends of Sookieville together nicely in the ending.
