Madison's prom was killer - literally. For some reason she's been targeted by a dark reaper - yeah, that kind of reaper - intent on getting rid of her, body and soul. But before the reaper could finish the job, Madison was able to snag his strange, glowing amulet and get away. Now she's stuck on Earth - dead but not gone.

Where does Once Dead, Twice Shy rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

It was entertaining, but easy to put down. The teenage angst is too long ago for me. ;-)

Have you listened to any of Mandy Siegfried???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The narrator did a great job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me giggle out loud more than once. Pretty funny, I'm just not the right demographic for this one.

The country's only celebrity werewolf, late-night radio host Kitty Norville prefers to be heard, not seen. But when she's invited to testify at a Senate hearing on behalf of supernaturals, her face gets plastered on national television. Kitty has been in hot water before, but jumping into the D.C. underworld brings a new set of problems---and a new set of friends and enemies.

I think Marguerite Gavin does an excellent job. In fact, I found this series because I enjoyed her performance of Kim Harrison's "The Hollows" series so much I looked to see what else she did. I didn't like this second book as much as the first for two reasons. 1) There were only a few of the characters from the first book in this and often only briefly. The new characters didn't absorb my interest the way the first book's characters did. 2) The setting of a Washington, D.C. witch hunt, er, uh, werewolf hunt, came across as "preachy" to me. There were some general plot issues that made it seem that making a point was more important than telling a good story. The first book was able to do both. Still, I accidentally listened the very first part of Book 4 by mistake, and I am dying to find out things get to that point, so I'll be loading up Book 3 with my credits as soon as I click Submit. ;-)

This holiday season, join two of today’s most popular paranormal authors for a special look into their worlds, where creatures are always stirring and no one sleeps through the night. The Bite Before Christmas: Teddy Brunswick knows about the immortals among us. He’s worked with them, called them friend - but he never counted on being snowed in with one over Christmas. Home for the Holidays by Jeaniene Frost: Cat and Bones are looking forward to a normal holiday - at least as “normal” as it gets for the combustible vampire couple....

Not sure why, but I really liked this Argenau vampire story. I think somehow I found it more believable. Maybe I just find the whole setting - snowbound in a cabin with no electricity - very romantic. Still working on the second story, but if you enjoy the characters Jeaniene Frost has created for her Kat and Bones stories, they are all there and they don't disappoint. Without having finished it, I think the plot may be suffering because of the brevity. She doesn't have the time to spin the usual suspense and intrigue, but a good story none the less.

This was an entertaining listen if somewhat formulaic. Loved the good guys in it. Rating would have been higher on the story, but I didn't like the bad guys. I know, I know. You aren't _supposed_ to like that bad guys. But I like bad guys where, when they get taken out, it's quick, justified, and you feel like justice was done. When these guys get taken out, you feel like they didn't suffer enough, like there needs to be a way to go back and make them never exist. Then again, when I think of it like that, I'm happier with the ending...

On a quest to find her sister's killer, Mac is a major player in a deadly game, but with one great advantage: she knows how to find the Sinsar Dubh, an ancient book of magic so dark it corrupts anyone who touches it. What Mac soon discovers is worse than she had imagined. Surrounded by treachery, her enemies indistinguishable from her allies, she can be certain of only one thing: as All Hallows' Eve approaches, her time is running out.

I like this series. It's suspenseful, a good story with lots of intrigue. Definitely some steamy parts. I gave the story 4 stars only because my personal preference at the moment is for something with a bit more humor in the mix and because I have trouble relating to the heroine, who I view as sort of remarkably brave, but lucky, not smart. Then again, pretty hard to be smart given what she has to work with and what she's up against. One more thing, in spite of the fact that I find some of the villains, creatures and events to be a little over the top, whenever I listen, I'm immediately sucked into that blissful suspension of disbelief that a good writer makes so easy.

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

I prefer her other two series, just cuz I like supernatural fiction (and maybe because I have an old ex-boyfriend story, too...) ;-) Still, Molly Harper's sense of humor, combined with Amanda Ronconi's delivery, well, it's a combination too good to pass up.

Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

I'm not generally one to read/listen to romance novels, but decided to try this one based on the reviews and the sample. I'm amazed at how engrossed I became in it. Davina Porter is awesome! I'll try the rest in the series when I find the unabridged versions read by her. She does the different characters voices so well, you can tell who's speaking even without context.
