Peter Batchelor is a fair reader, however, his voice does not allow for a listening at full speed. Joe Mantegna would be an excellent reader.
The language of this text is quite out of date, actually referring to black people in Africa as "colored" - quite out of date for modern language, especially when other ethnic groups are identified by actual names instead of outdated language.
Narration suffered from a lack of intentional variety that could have batter differentiated who was actually speaking.
This book gives a detailed treatment of the history of the Middle East from about the start of Islam forward. The first half addresses history leading up to about the 1800s and modernization while the second half leads through the period after that. There is a light mention of the pre-Islamic period, but that is not the focus. That part of history is better addressed through other, focused texts.
Multiple listens are highly indicated because of the density of information and length of recording. It can be done in a day at 2x and you will still benefit from additional listening time.
Harrison supplies emotion that a first read does not always capture. I actually feel the sense of urgency and panic in many scenes.

You will more likely than not just learn Spanish from this. Use each lesson twice or more daily, repeated the next day until you are confident that you are speaking what you have heard. This program moves quickly from first to last track and you can keep up with daily effort.
