"Hard to imagine the audience for this!"
I've really tried to get through this. The first title in this series had some promise and I was hoping I had a whole new series to enjoy, but after a couple of weeks of valiant effort I just cannot get into this. The narration is pretty awful, but the "literature" he has to work with is worse. It seems incredibly juvenile, except the highly sexual nature of the book would be inappropriate for the under age 12 audience that language style used seems to be directed toward. I have shared and greatly enjoyed many young adult titles with my teen age daughter on the one hand and do not object to sexually explicit literature on the other, but I just cannot imagine an audience that would enjoy this.
"Grab this one, you won't be sorry!"
There's a lot in the fantasy romance genre that I just cannot get into, but somehow Thea Harrison makes the existence of dragons, fairies and more in modern day America a very matter of fact concept. The characters are very real and likable, even lovable. The story is compelling, the romance very real and very hot. The narration is superb. I immediately bought all other audio books in the series and cannot wait for more.
"Exceptional Series-What to listen to now?"
I don't remember how I happened upon this series, but after reading book 2, I went back and read and listened to all 10. The books are really well written and Hillary Huber does a fantastic job narrating them. Before this series I had always avoided anything that ventured into the fantasy genre preferring to stick to mystery and romance. Now I seek them. If you loved this series, I suggest you try Jaquelyn Frank's Night Walker series narrated by Xe Sands, who is fabulous and perfect for the series. Also try the Immortal Guardian Series by Diane Duvall (hopefully Audible will get more of these soon). The Elder Race Series by Thea Harrison is exceptional and shares the traits of these other fantasy series of being very well written and narrated, seeming totally real and rational, having well developed characters you can identify with, very compelling story lines and including steamy romances.
If you also fell in love with this series, please share others of this caliber that you have found.
"Hot, hot, hot!"
Dark, different, and extremely erotic! The narrator took a bit of getting used to at first, but he ultimately, along with the author, delivered. Audible please get more Kresley Cole!
"Just couldn't get into it"
It may not be fair to rate this since I just couldn't keep interested enough to listen to the whole thing. Lorelei King does a great job narrating, but the comparison to the Evanovich Sephanie Plum series ends there. Maybe this would appeal to a young adult audience?
"No Ice Here"
The first book in the series was a beautiful love story and very enjoyable. This one was almost painfully beautiful. . . made me cry, and certainly makes me want to go spend some time in the Irish countryside. The narrator is marvelous. He does such a fine job with the differing voices and accents. How can a narrator make the male lead "sound" so handsome and hot?
