This book had me at the first chapter and did not let go, I was not disappointed, in fact I lost sleep from listening non stop.

The action, the love and the betrayal. (not saying more because I do not want to spoil it)

The end of the games of course.

If I tell it will spoil the book for another person but lets just say the undercurrent of determination to survive while falling in love was tremendous and speaks to the heart of anyone who is a survivor of anything.

The Narrator of the series is amazing

Penny marshals candid way of telling her story of her mark on the world. This is a great "look whack you can do with a life when your are given a ball and run with it" type story. I have always been a fan of Penny's work yet never knew why I was drawn to her, now I know why.... My mother is crazy too and I'm thankful for all I learned through her crazy.

When Penny was recounting John Balushi's death. I remember how the news hit me when I saw it on the evening news, yet I never knew him personally. I can only imagine the loss Penny and all his friends felt with his tragic passing. A brilliant comedic life lost in its prime.

EVERYTHING

I laughed, cried, contemplated my own life and choices I have made through the years only to come to the end of the book and have the same conclusion Penny did. I love my life so why change it.

This book is not only worth the credit but it is even worth paying for if you are out of credits.

How Alex Haley in the last few chapters tells how the story of his family history was orally passed down from generation to generation all the way from Africa to current day America. I am a genealogy buff and found myself envious of Mr Haley for having such a family that kept the history alive.

Many people see this book as a book about slavery because of the movie that was derived from it, but it is more about knowing where you come from and being proud of your people no matter the struggle so that you can always strive to make them proud that they traveled through all they did so their ancestry can be successful and be proud of who they are as a family.

When Kunta and Bells daughter was dragged away to be sold never to be seen again, it reminded me of the moment in The color purple where the sisters are separated from each other. I was in tears.

Do not judge this book by the movie, the book has so much more substance than any movie ever could have.

Inspiring, Introspective, LOVE

When the author was talking about how to leave behind something that would show his daughter how much she meant to him and how she melted his heart. Since I have a niece that lost a mother when she was 7 it made me think of her, and how it affected her even today, and how I could help her get through her grief. Not past it but through it.

Since I am a psychology student reaching for my PsyD/PHD This book will be my bible for my educational and life goals, so that I can not only reach my current goals but keep dreaming of new goals to reach for. I am inspired to never give up on my dreams in my life as a regular attitude but this book helped me to solidify my attitude as well as realize that I do not have to settle for what I believe I can do, I can believe I can do more and then go and do it.

This book had me captivated for all 10 hrs and 4 minutes of the audio version. Since I have trouble reading with my eyes, I usually do not want to go through the book myself without it being audio, but this book was so good I have downloaded the digital copy for my Ipad (because the print can be blown up) so I can listen to the Narrator and read along.

Saving CeeCee Honeycutt is a book about a young girl from Ohio who is born into a blended Yankee and southern family in the 1950's. CeeCee's mother is from Georgia, an ex pageant queen who on the surface seems like she has lost her nut, her father who is from Ohio is distant and travels so much his character is portrayed very little in the development of the story but has a large impact on the main character.

When we begin this book, Ceecee is a loner who's only friend is an elderly neighbor (Mrs Odell) who has been her sitter since she was an infant. Ceecee has a lack of friends but plenty of onlookers to her life within her small town in Ohio, because of her mothers "eccentricities". But what we find out throughout the development of this plot is that maybe her mom isn't so crazy after all, maybe it is just a true case of being homesick for the south. There is an old saying, you can take the girl out of the south but you cant take the south out of the girl. In this book this saying is screamed from all the pages. It speaks of the southern culture and how the northern people are lacking in the community area of southern culture.

This book has captured a culture better than any other "southern" genre that I have read thus far ever could.
Jenna Lamia has captured the characters in this book in such an amazing way, she is quickly becoming my favorite Narrator for books with southern charm.

This book is great for anyone looking for a light read that has laughter, tears, warm fuzziness, and a lesson in how it really does take a village to raise a child, as well as community is priceless.
