I have read a lot of text books on this subject, but this is told in such a way that it keeps your attention while explaining the nuances! Thank you for making avaliable to us in audio form. I also have the book. Hearing it helps me digest the information.
Fascinating! I thoroughly enjoyed!!!
Book ended a little quickly though...almost like the story was finished in a hurry. I would read another book on this topic by this author!!! Refreshing.
This abduction mystery is unpredicatible. And it was surprising to find a code of ethics in the the very characters you'd last expected it. Very entertaining and interesting.
How do you rate a story where you despise each of the characters? First you hate one, then the other, then both with intermittent sympathy? I found myself taking turns hating each of the two main characters, Nick and Amy Dunn. The book and the story is well crafted and smartly told, but I hope not to endure another story like this again. I am emotionally worn out, yet I had to keep listening to the story…even when I was totally disgusted with the characters that I wanted to slap them. This listen was like watching a train wreck that you find horrible, however you cannot pull your eyes away for a moment. Instead, you are drawn into the drama. .
My guess is readers who enjoy psychological thrillers would find this book a realistic and believable study of the complexities in relationships.
And even now I find myself wondering if a sequel will be written and I begin to speculate how the relationship will unfold.
You will enjoy living the events preceding, during and immediately following WWI from mutiple points of view! And the narrator was one of the best. OMG, I couldn't believe how well John Lee could change between accents and vary his cadence of speech to match each of the characters! Normally I like spy/murder mysteries with interesting characters. This novel is a much richer and multi-dimensional and I am the better for having read it! Thank you Ken Follett!
At first, I wasn't sure I would like this novel, but as the book progressed, I found myself becoming more and more involved in the story. I would read more from this author. This story is graphic and brutal. But an interesting hypothesis.
All I can say, is get this if you like a well crafted story and well developed characters.
I have been trying to capture control of my out of control life, so this book had some interesting points. The idea that we should get up and use our time in the morning isn't a new one. At first I was disappointed that this might be the premise, however, the author gave good examples of other advantages of using your mornings wisely. Since listening, I have put into use some of the suggestions and find things going much smoother.
Wish there were more to the book, though.
No, but there are actually studies that show you should get REM sleep rather than get up to exercise if you are trying to learn anything new, be creative or loose weight.
I wish a professional had read the book
The characters surprised me! I hated hearing a man only in his 60s described as old? But other than this, I think this is a good book to listen to for entertainment. And the bad guys got what was coming to them.
Great entertainment. I usually read spy novels, suspense and detective novels. But this book was a nice break. I came to know the characters and enjoyed learning their story. At times, the book is a little too politically correct for me, but I loved the character Lucy. I can relate to her character and found myself living through her. And the guy, Panda, was hot!
