"This book will impact your heart and soul!"
Not only is the content of the book excellent but the reader does an amazing job in his delivery. I highly recommend this book and it will impact your heart.
"Outstanding information and presentation!"
Overall an excellent book and one that I highly recommend. Although it is technical in most cases, the presentation created enough interest that I finished the book. Some of the items I practiced since my late teens (I am almost 56 as of this writing) and most of the items I wished I knew years ago (they would have saved me countless lost experiments with my diet and eating choices).
This is one of those books that work great as both an audio and written format with further study and research needed (if interested in this subject).
I found that the presentation of information worked better for me when I listened using my headphones vs in a car where I could not concentrate on the information.
I plan to listen to this again in the future knowing there is information that I missed.
"Intriguing, entertaining, and fascinating!"
This book is the first Stephen King novel that I read/listened to and it proved to be very interesting. Some ask would I listen to it again. . . No, only because the best part of the story is that it went in different directions and since I know the ending, the mystery is gone. However, this should not take away from the fact that I really enjoyed this book and some readers might want to listen to it multiple times for the story line.
The book not only made me think but stirred up my always researching mind prompting me to find other books along the same subject and put them on my reading list.
Some of the language is rough but it isn't every sentence. The story telling is excellent and the performance by the narrator is good but some of the voices for different folks actually sound the same.
I enjoy when the author speaks at the end and/or beginning and Stephen King chats at the end of the book. He discusses some of his research and I enjoyed that part nearly as much as the book.
"Fact or Fiction, possible or impossible?"
The main character in one of Andy Andrews’ earlier and tremendous book (The Traveler’s Gift) is the main character in this book. David Ponder is a successful businessman in his seventies and is struggling with the loss of his wife and best friend when archangel Gabriel appears to David and whisks him away to The Final Summit with many historical leaders where they are tasked with finding the answer to save mankind.
Initially, when I listened to this book, I did not like it because I approached the reading of the book in a theological review manner. However, knowing that many books have a hidden meaning and oftentimes requires multiple readings, I decided to listen to this book for a second time with an open mind and heart. It is with this second reading that I write this review.
Similar to other books by Andy Andrews, this book builds upon each chapter and contains tremendous insight, wisdom, hidden humor, and quotable quotes. Many historical leaders are in the book such as Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, King David, and Thomas Edison. Every character adds their distinct characteristics and ideas in an effort to assist David in finding the answer to the main question of the book. In two words, “What does humanity need to do, individually and collectively, to restore itself to the pathway toward successful civilization?” This complex yet simple question creates the basis for questions amongst the travelers and their sometimes witty yet provocative answers.
As with all of Andy Andrew’s books, there are multiple hidden and oftentimes direct challenges presented to the reader and this book is no different. I recommend this book for many reasons especially if the reader enjoys learning practical life’s lessons while learning some historical facts.
"Very interesting information"
Eye opening truth
Anecdotes to support theory and statements.
Open and straight forward.
No, extreme reactions
Overall, the book presents a different perspective why people are driven and why some are not. I enjoyed the book but there are times that the information is so technical that I had to stop listening and come back to the book after listening to another book. I enjoy books about success and what makes certain people/companies 'successful'. In a few months I plan to listen to it again.
"Informative and encouraging!"
I highly recommend this book to get a look into the life of a very interesting young man.
Although there were times when all the detail behind each play/game seemed boring, it provided a foundation for the story. I enjoyed learning about his family and the role they played in his life and how a 'homeschooled' young man has grown to be a light in the ever darkening wold of pro sports.
I read this book for one reason. To learn more about the young quarterback who seems to be in the news weekly and sometimes daily. I am not a sports 'nut' but I enjoy reading about a success story of a young man who is making a positive difference in the sporting (entertainment) industry. Too often stars in the sport world are horrible role models filled with self pride and are very arrogant. This young man is setting a good example and is destined to be a great role model for young aspiring athletes.
"Excellent detailed story of a modern day genius"
If you followed Apple and Steve Jobs since the early years, then some of the book will be repetitive. However, the book is put together in a manner that even a devout follower will learn interesting facts and enjoy the journey. Since the mid 80’s when I purchased an Apple IIe/c then a Mac, I have watched Apple and Steve Jobs with great interest.
I enjoyed the tremendous detail and how the author did an excellent job in keeping the book interesting. Although the unabridged version is much longer than many other books, I am glad that I did not quit and listened to the end. It contains many items that answer most of the “Why does Apple do …?”
Beware of the language in the book. There are times when F bombs fly everywhere.
FWIW – I listened to the book via the audible app on my new iPhone 4s @ 1.5x speed.
"Amazing story !"
This is an amazing story of the horror of war and how much the POWs went through during WWII. However, the best part of the story is the redemptive, restoring power of Christ!
"Front line perspective from a Navy"
The book is tremendous! The audio quality is excellent! This book answers a few questions I had and will paint a different perspective than what Hollywood and the media portrayed. The book moves quickly and has enough detail to enable the reader/listener to paint a picture of what took place. I highly recommend it. The only reason I rated it a 4/5 stars is there are a few 'cuss' words (which was expected). I give the author credit for not using the "F" bomb and put a new twist on a substitute.
"Excellent book about an icon"
This is an excellent book about an icon in the technology and consumer products world. I have watched Apple and Steve Jobs since I bought my first Apple product in the 80's (Apple IIC & Macintosh). A few of the items discussed in the book clarified misconceptions and questions not only about Steve Jobs but about Apple and its products and services. Overall, not only was it enjoyable but it was enlightening. In addition, I learned different key points about entrepreneurship and leadership.
It is written from the perspective of a friend, employee, and co-worker. Much different than other books and articles that were written from a media perspective only.
The book held my interest to the end and I highly recommend it!
