Narration - outstanding - Made the book very entertaining.
The story line is good but very predictable and there are parts which are not believable as indicated by other reviewers but too often in these 'super hero' type stories many parts are not believable.
There was only one item that I didn't guess but I will not note it here to keep the surprise alive :D.
I anticipated a little more suspense and unpredictable items in the book.
Excellent book with many different twists and turns. If you watch the movie, this book is a must read/listen to fill in some of the missing components in the movie.
The ending is the only thing I didn't care for in the entire book. Unlike book 1, this book almost requires that you read the third book in the series.
This is another one of those books that get you thinking when you finish it.
I enjoyed the book immensely and would give it 5 stars overall except there were a few times that it seemed to drag on too long. This is the first book I read/listened to by Rosenberg and it was an unexpected delight.
I enjoy reading a good spy novel to beak up the many business type books that I read and it is refreshing to listen to a book that isn't filled with sex and cussing every other sentence. There is a few plays on romance but isn't life filled with it? However, it isn't sex filled nor innuendos.
As others stated, it is filled with religious discussion but so is the middle east. Therefore, I believe it is very appropriate in a book dealing with the constant conflict taking place in the middle east.
I recommend this book and unlike many other 'spy' novels would not hesitate to give this to a younger reader.
I have been listening to the Percy Jackson series since the first book because my eldest granddaughter is a big fan of the books and I like to keep up with what she is reading. Most of the previous books were good to very good. This book is a sad attempt to keep the series moving and unfortunately they continue with a pseudo teen romance theme mixed in with a boring adventure.
I kept asking my granddaughter if she enjoyed the book - At first, Yes! then she added (as she progressed beyond the half way mark, NO! - She stated that it is boring.
I have been a fan of Andy Andrews and his writing for many years and read everything he writes. When I saw the announcement for this book, I immediately pre-ordered it.
Although I was in the middle of another book, I paused listening to it and downloaded this book. At first I was disappointed. The first two chapters appeared to take the book in no direction. But I knew in my heart that the first two chapters laid the foundation for the book. By the time I was half way into the book I knew it is a winner. It is filled with many life lessons, quotable statements, and more important valuable outlines and stories to learn from and teach.
This book is a hidden gem - it is one of those books which requires many listens and also reading in the physical form.
No doubt I will put this on my highly recommended list and will read it again and again.
Excellent book! Its value is in the story form. Many people learn easier from stories (don't we tell our children and grandchildren stories) that teach them valuable lessons that no standard text book can teach.
Not only are the stories invaluable to teach lessons, they are much easier to remember and apply due to the interwoven quotes.
If you enjoy this format of learning through life's lessons then I suggest listening to one of my favorite podcast s - Entrepreneur on fire - John Lee Dumas.
This book was written over 70 years ago but wasn't released until after the author's wife's death for many reasons. There is tremendous insight in the book especially in light of the fact many items mentioned were not known as medical, historical, or scientific facts at the time the author wrote the book.
If you believe the Bible (which I do) then some of the items mentioned do not 'line up' with Biblical truth. Therefore, it is critical that when reading/listening to the book, that the reader takes some of the items as part of the author's literary right.
I did not have issues with the editor's comments like other reviewers. Although at times, the editor did go over board with her comments, they provided an interesting perspective and gave some historical content for the author's writing.
It is well written and I recommend the book, especially since many of the items within the book not only have scientific proof but are now historical facts.
Unfortunately, the book jumped around toward the end and it seemed that something was missing or it could be that I couldn't understand the context based upon the accent of the narrator.
I learned some items but not as many as I hoped that I would gain from one of the country's founding men.
Overall, the book kept my interest and it was written in a manner that enticed me to continue to the end. The book is filled with tremendous truths and outlines the journey the author took to overcome many obstacles tossed into her life.
Her ability to articulate and put you into the scene is tremendous. However, some of the language causes me NOT to put this on a highly recommended list for younger readers who could be in a similar situation. (Death of a parent, abandonment, and more.)
The book isn't so technical (backpacking, trail hiking, etc) that anyone could enjoy it without being overwhelmed with geeky details.
I highly recommend this book if you have any interest in what takes place 'behind' the scenes to protect the world from Terrorists. The story unfolds slowly but builds speed ending with emotion and impact.
Great story about the brotherhood of SEALS.
