It was a great story. A true story. The kind of story any news producer would love to report, nail down, and get on the air. And that's just what Mary Mapes and her producing and reporting team did in September 2004 when Dan Rather anchored their report on President George W. Bush's dereliction of his National Guard duty for CBS News.

This was my first audiobook and after having read tens of other ones, this book still remains as one of my favorites. The author does an excellent job in telling the story.

When Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community..

Ruth Adamson says: "Not Nicholas Sparks best, but ok"
    "Surprising ending"

Nice reading. One gets involved very easily with the story. Amazing to see how two people can have very different perspectives about the same experience. And it only gets better toward the end.
