Captivating, Betrayal, Surprising
Lorraine had the makings of a true hero because she is a strong woman, but like all hero's, there is a hidden weakness.
Yes. This one had more intense drama
Friends and Lovers
I gave this story five stars because I found it hard to stop listening to the story. Weber did a great job of pulling the listener into the story line and characters - I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The story is an instant transition into another world of lust, drama, and deceit - all the makings of a great story. Relax in your favorite bubble bath, close your eyes, relax and get ready to have your mind transported to another world.
I would rank "Moma Ruby" among the best top rated audiobooks in my library.
My favorite character was Ruby because she was so unpredictible and outspoken. She was some kind of "sassy"!
I ABSOLUTELY loved listening to this audiobook and it is because of the great narration performed by Kevin R. Free. Kevin's voice transitioned perfectly to fit each character so vividly and precise that you feel like you are instantly taken back into the era and time setting of the book. I have listened to other books that Kevin has narrated and really enjoyed them but I have to say that this is his BEST performance (that I have encountered so far). He definitely gets an academy award for this!
A sin and a shame...
Mary Monroe is among one of my favorite authors. i wish someone would have told me about how good a book Moma Ruby was before now but I am telling you. Besides Moma Ruby's violent side, she is a likable character and brings much excitement to this story. Mary made an excellent decision in choosing Kevin Free as the narrator.
The drama and story line kept me so interested that I couldn't stop listening.
Success is the Best Revenge because of the suspense and deceit.
The narrator did a good job switching her voice to portray a different character's personality
What's done in the dark will come to the light...
Yes. The story had a lot of drama in it. The author gave a good profile of each character so that it was easy to relate to them - even if you didn't like them.
Tess Aventura Dubois' rise and fall.
Great as usual. He is such a good narrator that I sometimes search for books under his name.
Now the tables turn.
I liked how the story was able to embed and draw you in to the story as though you were actually there. The characters are life-like The author did a good job of capturing the essence of grief and its aftermath on the family while bringing a sense of humor into the plot. Any family that has experienced the lost of a loved one will be able to relate to the story and how grief effects each family member differently creating complications. Overall, I enjoyed listening to the story line even though I thought the plot was somewhat predictable at times ( I was able to guess what was going to happen next).
