Being a kid with wings--constantly on the run--has never been easy, and Max and her flock are getting tenser than ever. First, on a trip to Africa, they meet a mysterious billionaire whose intense scrutiny of the flock makes her fear the worst. Then, a cryptic message from a young girl arrives, warning them "The sky will fall." And as if an impending apocalypse weren't bad enough, canny birdkid Angel makes a dire prophecy about Max's soul mate: Fang will be the first to die.

Super Awesome Ride! This was fast and up and down. The narration was quick and the story was fast moving. I found I actually cried at the poignant parts.

I am giving it 4 stars because I have to leave that last star for books like Angelology that have tons of information in them, but this was a fun book. I think the idea was still there too of philanthrophy, helping each other , truly LIVING, best survival options cause we hardly think of that stuff, conscious evolution, and SCIENCE, relationships and under all the fun I guess there may be a question there of when it comes down to it, do you think it's really about truly person to person relationships and living and loving, or setting personal feelings aside for "greater good" even if you live an unhappy life?..or maybe less fulfilling one? Maybe a little while of each? What is Fate? What is Destiny?

Sister Evangeline was just a girl when her father entrusted her to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Now, at 23, her discovery of a 1943 letter from the famous philanthropist Abigail Rockefeller to the late mother superior of Saint Rose Convent plunges Evangeline into a secret history that stretches back a thousand years: an ancient conflict between the Society of Angelologists and the monstrously beautiful descendants of angels and humans.

Stands Alone Unchallenged - Extremely well researched in the academic area referring to texts, geography, history etc. Creative with relation to genetic hypothesis on fictonal hybrid creatures. Such extreme detail is given to this sort of fiction aspect of "Angelology" career in the book that it makes it seem real. Even the hierarchal political rules of the creatures in the book have order. Yet there is adventure and plot and so so many twists and turns. The visual prose is amazing..truly breathtaking. Besides the gem this book is to behold, it is an extreme value due to the length of the book. A good many days may be spent in this world. Great naration as well. I completely believed the different characters.

There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

    Wonderful...different.

I hoped there would be a sequel, even as I realized the story sort of lays it out that one isn't needed, it's open enough to have one. A brand new kind of tale, a redeemable Fallen Angel such as you see in Legion, where one or more just did as they felt or thought and so "Fell" but not really such dark things. A shining example of how there are lighter and darker aspects of every species and how every ethereal thing is more or less touchable than once thought possible; planets, clouds, scientific facts now, were once acts of the heavens incomprehensible.

I would recommend this book and Angelology, though this one has a more happy young feeling.

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over 10 years on the force, she's seen it all - and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

    Overall

I found the mix of sex crimes/murder and sex charged romance didn't mesh well for me. Looks like the whole series is that way. Riveting listen. Characters come to life! Somehow the story comes across as well written even as I already had the "CLUE" pegged before the end. It was just too disturbing too get all romantic minded then thrown into gore and rape. Back and Forth the whole book.
