John Finnemore is a genius, and he proves it again with this hysterical Christmas special. I usually listen while I drive, and I almost drove off the road laughing when the bit about the umbrella unfolds in the cockpit. Pure genius, I tell ya. Loved every moment! :)

I have read several of the novels, but never listened to one. I don't know that it's better, necessarily, but different, and I enjoyed it a lot. The narrator is perfect for Kate, and Dana Stabenow's writing is always pitch perfect. I liked this audio book immensely.

Kate Shugak, of course. She's smart, witty, and kicks ass! What's not to like?

I thought Marguerite's take on Kate was awesome. I will admit, I was a bit apprehensive, but she pulled it off with perfect tone and clarity. Well Done.

Absolutely. As it was, I got through it in about 3 different sittings, but was constantly thinking about the story when I was away.

This series is awesome, and now that I've discovered them on audio, I am even more excited to go on many more adventures with Kate, Mutt and Jack. Love it !!!

I enjoyed the story, and the narration was absolutely top notch, but seriously, the amateurish and mistimed sound effects were ANNOYING! The music portion was okay, I guess, but when the narrator says "...the window broke..." and a full 2 seconds later you hear an amateur sound effect that is neither convincing, nor adds to the story, it just gets to be frustrating. The narrator is so good in this, the sound effects actually take away from his ability to tell the story. I hated the sound effects.

I LOVED THE NARRATOR ! I just hated the producers decision to use sound effects. Even the wind and thunder and whatever was just plain stupid.

I would leave that to the professionals.

I really did enjoy the story and the narration, but hesitant to listen to the others in this series if there are continued sound effects.

I absolutely loved the first audio in this series, so it was with a bit of apprehension that I picked up and listened to this one...I needn't have fretted one whit. Once again, Kevin Hearne comes through with a fantastic story, and Luke Daniels is quickly becoming my favorite narrator...he's absolutely incredible. This is def. worth the time, and money. I can't wait now to continue on and see what happens to this great character...and my favorite literary canine, Oberon. Entertaining all the way through.

I really wanted to like this story. The premise sounded very promising, but unfortunately for me, it wondered all OVER the place, with frequent, heavy handed sermons. When the writing finally gets back to the actual story, it was good, not great. Overall, I just felt disappointed and frustrated. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, but this was all together forgettable for me. :(

I took a chance on this one, not knowing anything about the author or narrator. I am a highly emotional listener...and I guess I just wasn't " in the mood " for this particular story. The narration was very good, but the story itself seemed EXTREMELY slow. I like small town politics and behind-closed-doors scenarios, but this one seemed to drag to a grinding halt. I didn't even finish half of it. It's rare for me to abandon a book, whether audio or in print, but this one just didn't do it for me. Once again, it's likely that I just wasn't feeling this story, rather than bad writing and narration.

I bought this audio book as part of the $4.95 sale of 1st books in a series. For 5 bux, I didn't expect much, actually. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The story itself is very different, but entertaining. Supernatural goings-on in modern day life is interesting. I thought the writing was very good, and kept me appropriately engaged. Did this book change my life? Not really, but it was a fun ride none-the-less.

As far as the performance by James Marsters...I think this is a case of you either LOVE his style or completely HATE it. I started out being annoyed by all the heavy breathing, sighing, and dragging of words. It's definitely a particular "style". But here's the thing - it dawned on my about half way through this audio book that I had converted from listening to someone read a story, to listening to Harry Dresden himself relating his experience. There is a profound difference, and it's never happened to me on audio before. Instead of picturing some guy in a studio reading from a script, I actually felt like I was sitting in a bar, or beside a fireplace listening to Harry tell a very good story. For that reason alone, I gave 5 stars for performance.

I will likely pursue this series, and already look forward to the next one.

MOLOKA'I is one of my favorite books of all time, so it was with a little trepidation that I embarked upon HONOLULU. I needn't have worried. Mr. Brennert is a master storyteller, and the narration by Ali Ahn was spot-on. I loved this book ! In addition to an engaging story, I learned a tremendous amount about Hawaiian culture and history. The characters are memorable, and the story is unforgettable. Highly recommended !!!

I wanted to like this book. I am not familiar with the TROUBLESHOOTER series, but I found the story very choppy. There was a lot of time spent developing characters, which is great, but then it seemed like all the momentum building to the climax lost steam, and it just kind of ended. There were some charming scenes, and some very good, honest situations. But in general, I had trouble finishing this one out. I do applaud the author for treating a delicate subject with great care and thought. I was also impressed with the prologue that made the story personal. But I am sorry to say, I would have trouble recommending this title to all but a few of my friends. The performance was mediocre, with the best characterization being Sam. I found the digitized telephone conversations unnecessary. And I realize this will makes me seem petty, but thank goodness not all gay men are as annoying as Robin. I couldn't wait for his scenes to be over.
